We are seeking a skilled and motivated Microsoft 365 Collaboration Engineer to support and enhance our enterprise collaboration ecosystem with a focus on Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Teams. This role will be responsible for developing automation, administering cloud collaboration services, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring reliable communication experiences across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Microsoft 365 workloads, experience with scripting and systems integration, and a passion for delivering high‑quality, scalable solutions.
Location: This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.Key Responsibilities:Microsoft Teams & Exchange Engineering- Administer, configure, and optimize Exchange Online, Exchange on-prem, and Teams environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for Microsoft Exchange and Teams, influencing design decisions and long-term roadmaps.
- Plan and execute tenant-to-tenant email migrations.
- Develop and maintain policies related to Teams governance, lifecycle management, and compliance.
- Support and execute disaster recovery planning and testing for Exchange and Teams.
- Complete server and application patching and upgrades.
- Design and implement automation using PowerShell, APIs, and Microsoft Graph to streamline processes such as licensing and configuration workflows.
- Create scripts and tools to support daily operational tasks, monitoring, and reporting.
- Assist with migrations from on‑premises Exchange to Exchange Online, validating domains, mail flow, SIP addresses, and dependencies.
- Integrate Teams and Exchange features with broader Microsoft 365 services (SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure AD).
- Serve as an escalation point for complex issues related to Teams calling, messaging, meetings, mail routing, and mailbox functionality.
- Troubleshoot server, network, DNS, and authentication issues related to Microsoft 365.
- Share responsibility for on-call coverage, including responding to after-hours incidents as needed.
- Partner with multi-functional teams to support business initiatives that rely on Teams and Exchange capabilities.
- Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles for internal support teams.
- Mentor support tiers by sharing best practices and troubleshooting guidance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years working with Microsoft 365, including Teams and Exchange administration.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for administration, automation, and data validation.
- Strong understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, certificates, connectivity, security).
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise collaboration environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Graph API, Teams App lifecycle, or Exchange integration patterns.
- Familiarity with migration scripting, Teams/Exchange policy configuration, or collaboration governance.
- Experience with related tools (Power BI, SharePoint Online, Intune) as referenced in collaboration-focused roles.
