Shark is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer II to join our R&D team and help develop the next generation of innovative consumer products. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, enjoys building products from the ground up, and approaches new technical challenges with curiosity, optimism, and grit.
What you'll do
- Own products from early concept through production - design, prototype, test, iterate, ship
- Design electromechanical systems that integrate motors, sensors, actuators, PCBs, and controls
- Build hands-on prototypes using in-house lab tools, rapid prototyping, and supplier support
- Dig into root-cause analysis and troubleshoot mechanical and system-level issues directly
- Translate product requirements into CAD models, drawings, tolerances, and specs
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with EE, ID, NPD, and testing teams from day one
- Run design validation, reliability testing, and DFM/DFA reviews
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field, plus 1-3 years in product development or R&D
- Real hands-on prototyping experience - you've built and tested physical hardware
- Solid grasp of electromechanical systems (motors, gearing, mechanisms, basic electronics)
- Proficiency in 3D CAD - SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar
- Experience taking a product from concept to production
- Comfort with fast-moving, iterative environments where requirements evolve
- Energy and creativity when facing problems no one has solved before
- Consumer products, appliances, or high-volume manufacturing experience
- Rapid prototyping methods - 3D printing, machining, soft tooling
- FEA / CFD simulation tools
