The Manufacturing Systems Manager will coordinate the digital architecture of our manufacturing operations and automation processes. This role will work cross-functionally to help implement solutions for our manufacturing systems to ensure that technology is at the forefront of optimizing and driving manufacturing efficiency. This position will partner with stakeholders to develop business requirements to connect the physical and digital environments to bring visibility to all manufacturing processes and systems to drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate would have experience launching technology solutions in a manufacturing environment, deep proficiency with MES platforms and ERP integration points, and proven ability to explain complex technical concepts to customers, non-technical employees, and all levels of leadership. Additionally, familiarity with industrial automation standards and shop floor hardware such as PLCs and IoT sensors would be a plus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred; MBA a plus). A certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt), Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in engineering or operations working in a manufacturing environment and/or with MES systems. Experience with SQL databases and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is preferred.

Travel: 20-40%  Some international as required.

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role. Ability to work a flexible schedule is necessary.

Work Location - This is a remote position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with project management for new system implementations, software upgrades, and feature enhancements to support changing business needs.
  • Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of core manufacturing systems, including MES.
  • Serve as the technical expert to system functionality and provide any necessary support and training as the business requires.
  • Partner with various cross-functional and corporate teams to ensure systems are launched and supported to the highest level of reliability & availability.
  • Support manufacturing program governance frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting standards.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT departments to translate business requirements into technical system solutions.
  • Own recommendations to improve process workflows and eliminate manual processes with digital tools and new technology.
  • Ensure the integrity of data flowing from the shop floor to top-level management reports are accurate, timely, and actionable.
  • Mentor and train users and analysts that use and rely on the system.
  • Develop comprehensive training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for end-users on the manufacturing floor.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks across multiple manufacturing systems.
  • Provide regular reporting as business requires.
  • Identify future system infrastructure capacity needs to support long-term sales forecasts.
  • Partner with manufacturing program management to support integration of new capital equipment and manufacturing systems into existing or new manufacturing plants.
  • Lead the investigation and recommendations of new technology insertion that impact manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to ensure operational readiness and compliance with local regulations and standards.
  • Facilitate decision making using the Choosing By Advantages (CBA) Decision Making System methods.
  • Drive the application of Lean principles into daily management and all related deliverables, systems, and processes.
  • Facilitate the adoption of new systems, processes, methods, projects through strong use and support of change management methods (e.g. ADKAR).
  • Demonstrate ability to provide quotes and supporting information for proposals and business cases.
  • Adept at problem solving leveraging data analytics and systems thinking.
  • Lead training events on new system implementation and operation.
  • Support the bid and proposal process as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
