Job Summary:

As Ruggable's Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the growth and success of Ruggable. You will be a data-driven, strategic problem solver and innovative thinker across the Operations organization. More specifically, you will lead projects that support Ruggable’s journey into a data-centric, innovative company on the forefront of the home goods market.. Your day-to-day will include identifying and scoping automation opportunities, vetting strategic equipment manufacturers, identifying key process optimization opportunities, and implementing engineering projects., You will be working closely with Operations stakeholders to understand existing processes, solicit user requirements and lead implementation of operational improvements. 

What You’ll Do :

  • Scope, Project Manage, and Commission automation projects for direct-to-consumer and omnichannel business units
  • Identify and prioritize cost, quality, and safety automation opportunities
  • Vet strategic equipment manufacturers and manage ongoing external relationships
  • Select and manage contractors for project installation and hold them accountable to Ruggable’s engineering and safety standards
  • Assist Director of Operations Engineering with vetting and identifying strategic asset countersourcing opportunities
  • Assist Director of Operations Engineering with Digital Factory opportunity scoping and project implementation
  • Assist cross-functional partners (e.g. Product Development, Sourcing) in vetting third-party production capabilities
  • Collaborate with Operations stakeholders to understand existing processes, solicit user requirements and request feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement of engineering project management processes

What You’ll Need to Have:

Required:

  • 1-5 years of professional experience working in continuous improvement or manufacturing project engineering 
  • Excellent proficiency with Google Sheets / Excel, including advanced formulas and model construction 
  • Experience in working with global equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to scope and vet investment opportunities
  • Ability to manage and hold contractors accountable to Ruggable standards
  • Ability to build and effectively manage capital project budgets
  • Ability to project manage complex engineering projects and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to solicit user requirements from multiple stakeholder groups and translate those requirements into metrics, reports, tool features, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong relationship development skills with ability to quickly become a trusted thought partner across Operations teams 
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally for project implementations across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Experience utilizing and/or building dashboards (i.e., Tableau, Looker, Google Sheets
  • This role can be based in Los Angeles, CA, Bedford Park, IL, or Charlotte, NC

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working in consumer packaged goods or textiles
  • Previous experience in controls and automation

Compensation:

  • $85,000 - $100,000 per year base salary
  • An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of role
  • Employer matching (up to 3% of base salary) for company sponsored 401K plan
