Job Summary 

Responsible for performing precision machining operations to manufacture, repair, or modify metal components according to exact specifications.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Machining & Fabrication 

• Perform precision machining operations, including drilling, tapping, boring, milling, and lathe work, using horizontal and vertical mills, engine lathes, and horizontal boring mills. 
• Set up and execute tool?post grinding operations, broaching procedures, and babbitt bearing work. 
• Apply metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as required for component repair or enhancement. 
• Use a wide range of handheld and stationary power and non?power tools such as band saws, belt sanders, grinders, and files. 

Measurement, Inspection & Documentation 

• Record all data necessary to produce accurate service and design results, including measurements, sizing, and illustrations. 
• Use measuring devices and techniques correctly to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances. 
• Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment. 
• Demonstrate an understanding of materials, their properties, and appropriate applications. 

Safety & Work Environment 

• Lift, tighten, adjust, and secure heavy objects safely while following all required safety procedures. 
• Use proper personal protective equipment at all times, with particular emphasis on eye and ear protection. 
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard?free work area as directed by the supervisor. 

Collaboration & Support 

• Assist other machinists with skilled or non?skilled tasks as directed by the manager or lead.  
• Support other departments with assigned duties, both skilled and non?skilled. 

Requirements

Education & Experience 

• High school diploma or GED required. 
• 3 years of experience in manual machining within a manufacturing, repair, or service environment. 
• Strong technical skills in operating manual mills, lathes, grinders, and related shop equipment, along with the ability to interpret blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and maintain tight tolerances. 
• Proficiency in operating manual mills, lathes, grinders, and related equipment. 
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents. 
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools and maintaining tight tolerances.
