The Managing Director, RM acts as the central point of business contact for mega and not for profit plans with an asset value of 500 million to more than 1 billion. Incumbent is the primary contact for assigned client "plan sponsor” relationships for both clients and internal personnel. The Managing Director is responsible for managing a more sophisticated plan sponsor who has broad experience and understanding of the 401k marketplace.  The plan design, fee structure and investments increase in complexity based on the size of the client. The Managing Director, RM is accountable for assigned client relationships (typically at the C-suite level) that includes overall service delivery, evaluating, improving and managing client satisfaction and risk / retention efforts, and client P&L management.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for the relationship management of mega and non-profit plans with an asset value typically ranging from 500 million to more than 1 billion.
  • Responsible for maintaining client relationships by identifying solutions to enhance overall satisfaction, actively reducing risk of client loss and improving the financial viability of client relationships. This includes both enhancing revenue and working with internal partners to improve plan relationship efficiency.
  • Ability to effectively report to management across key focus areas is critical to the success of this role.
  • Responsible for consistently reinforcing mega and non-profit clients’ buying decision and strengthening overall client relationships.
  • Conduct client meetings, working with internal SMEs and the service team, to bring Empower’s best thinking to clients in the areas of plan design, funding, administration, participant communications, compliance, fiduciary governance and industry trends.
  • Delivering periodic plan statistical, regulatory/legislative, and industry trending presentation to clients – both via phone and in person. 
  • Work with the client service team to develop, present to the client, and implement client business planning deliverables.
  • Leadership – peer coaching and tactical execution on key initiatives. 
  • Participate in new business finals presentations and client site visits building rapport with clients and managing client expectations beginning with the sales process and continuing throughout the relationship. 
  • Has a good understanding of client needs and aligns those needs to business plans. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the company’s products and services. 
  • Ability to travel to client / prospective client meetings, internal team/SME/leadership relationship development or training is central to the role.
  • Ensures satisfaction in order to retain clients, support clients in meeting retirement plan goals
  • Evaluating and Managing Client Satisfaction:
  • Ability to ascertain both the obvious and not so obvious signs of satisfaction / dissatisfaction and effectively work to positively influence client perspective.
  • Relationship Penetration Expertise:
  • Developing as deep and as broad a relationship with clients / advisors as possible
  • Defining & Execution Specific Client Retention Strategy
  • Defining & Assessing the Reasons for Client Risk:
  • Understanding how / why we look at and evaluate client risk status
  • Understanding “Provider”, “Client” & “Industry” Risks
  • Identifying and working with key internal and external partners to retain clients
  • Organizational Navigation:
  • Understanding who to go to in order to get things done for a client and the organization.

What you will bring:

  • FINRA 6 & 63 registrations required within corporate-established timelines.
  • FINRA fingerprint required.
  • Bachelor’s degree. 10+ years of industry and RM role specific experience. Candidate must have extensive working experience with mega corporate or NFP market client relationships.

Base Salary Range

$163,700.00 - $237,350.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
