JOB SUMMARY

Barings is seeking a Managing Director to lead Product Strategy & Management, reporting to the firm's Chief Operating Officer. The role owns the end-to-end product agenda across Barings' public and private asset classes.

The successful candidate will lead a single product organization that brings together product development and management with product strategy.  This will include oversight of capabilities including competitive and market intelligence, pricing, and fund governance, supported by dedicated Public Assets and Private Assets verticals and regional product coverage. The role is the senior product voice to the investment platform, the Global Client Group and the firm's governance forums, and is accountable for translating investment capability into commercially viable products that serve institutional, insurance and wealth clients.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Strategy & Platform Leadership

  • Set the multi-year product roadmap across public and private markets, aligned to firm growth strategy.
  • Define the investment case, target client and vehicle approach for each new strategy.
  • Partner with the Global Client Group, CIOs and investment leadership on capacity, sequencing and platform gaps.

Product Development & Lifecycle

  • Own fund and strategy launches end to end, from proposal through governance approval and go-live.
  • Run periodic product reviews covering scale, profitability, performance and overlap; recommend rationalization and repositioning.
  • Oversee vehicle structuring across commingled funds, SMAs, UCITS, ELTIF and evergreen structures.

Pricing & Commercial Governance

  • Own the fee and pricing framework, including benchmarking, discount governance and pricing for new launches and large mandates.
  • Oversee competitive and market intelligence covering peer flows, fund terms and demand trends.

Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead product representation into board, committee and fund governance forums, including the fund reporting cycle.
  • Build strong partnerships with Investments, Global Client Group, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Risk and Operations.
  • Lead, develop and scale a global product team across Charlotte, London and Asia Pacific.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree required; MBA, CFA or equivalent advanced qualification preferred.
  • 15+ years of asset management experience, with a substantial track record in product management, product strategy or a closely related commercial function.
  • Demonstrated breadth across both public markets (fixed income, equities) and private markets (private credit, capital solutions, real assets); depth in credit is a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience leading fund and vehicle launches through an institutional governance process, across US and European structures.
  • Strong commercial judgment, including fee and pricing strategy, product profitability and rationalization decisions.
  • Experience serving institutional, insurance and wealth channels; familiarity with general account and insurance solutions requirements preferred.
  • Track record of building, leading and developing global teams, and of influencing senior investment and distribution stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with executive and board-level presence.
