Managing Director, Business Development, Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx)
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of inorganic strategy deployment for assigned business units, including market evaluation, target identification, screening, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and closing
- Lead cross-functional teams, including marketing, engineering, finance, legal, supply chain, service, and HR in support of the evaluation and execution planning for M&A. Effectively manage communication and alignment with key internal stakeholders for assigned business units
- Effectively lead team of direct reports in delivering on business development goals of assigned business units, providing coaching and development to build talent pipeline of function
- Steward an effective decision making and approval process alongside GE’s corporate business development team in evaluation and execution of M&A transactions for assigned business units
- Facilitate smooth transition of knowledge, integration responsibilities, and operating goals and objectives to business and functional leaders responsible for post-closing management
- Communicate recommended inorganic strategies and business plans to executive leadership teams
- Monitor integration status of transactions that have closed within the prior two years
- Build and maintain effective network of stakeholders within markets of interest to assigned business units; utilize network to build strong understanding of market fundamentals, trends, and valuation
- Promote utilization and continuous improvement of standardized business development practices, tools, and document retention policies
Experience:
- BA or BS degree
- Minimum 10 years of experience and with a minimum of 5 years of relevant business development experience in a corporate, investment banking, or consulting environment
- Healthcare/medical device/medtech industry experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience in sourcing, negotiating, and closing multiple, material M&A transactions
- Demonstrated aptitude for both managing and prioritizing multiple projects and initiatives
- Team leadership, project management and facilitation skills in a matrixed organization and interacting with senior executives, both internally and externally
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Clear thinking: Proven experience simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability, making decisions with speed and accuracy despite ambiguity based on best available information, and communicating priorities clearly and concisely
Preferred characteristics:
- MBA qualification
- Biopharmaceutical, specialty pharmaceutical, and/or imaging agents industry experience
- Experience in the domain of establishing or managing partnership programs
