About the role 
Credible is looking for a Managing Counsel for a full-time position.  This is a “hands on” role. The selected candidate will report to our SVP – Legal and Compliance and manage one or more lawyers

In this role you will:

  • Advise our various business teams with respect to a wide range of legal, regulatory and contractual matters. You will be a primary point of contact for:
  • managing, structuring, drafting and negotiating a high volume of commercial agreements with a variety of consumer financial services, technology and online marketing companies; and
  • advising supported business teams with respect to relevant financial services and FinTech laws and regulations, data privacy and security laws, and general commercial contracting principles 
  • Identify and explain non-standard terms and associated risks to relevant business stakeholders, interpret and advise on contract requirements, obligations and risk exposure
  • Utilize existing systems and applications for creating, editing, storing, tracking, administering and managing new and amended contracts; and

 

Some things we consider critical for this role:

  • Active and in good standing member of a US State Bar
  • JD from an ABA accredited law school
  • 10+ years of legal experience (a combination of law firm and in-house experience) focused on consumer financial services, technology contracting/licensing and data privacy laws and regulations)
  • Working knowledge of relevant consumer financial services laws and regulations (e.g., TILA and Reg. Z, ECOA and Reg. B, FCRA and RESPA), privacy (e.g., GLBA and CCPA), data security, consumer protection laws and regulations and risk management
  • Detail-oriented project and people management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing projects to effective resolution. Proven ability to work with teams of multiple stakeholders as well as independently with limited guidance as a natural self-starter
  • Comfortable negotiating ambiguity and conflicting priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment; and
  • Exceptional professionalism; strong work ethic; sense of humor; and the flexibility needed to thrive in an innovative and fast-paced business environment

 

Some things we consider highly desirable for this role:

 

  • Familiarity with contract approval and management systems such as Linksquares or equivalent, and project management systems such as Jira and Asana or equivalent

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay ranges for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location, are listed below. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.

$170,000$200,000 USD
For all other US locations:
$142,000$180,000 USD
