Due to a promotion, Amerisure is recruiting for a Manager, Underwriting Assistants to join our team!  This role will be hybrid 3 days a week in the local office & 2 from home.  Office locations include Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Chicago IL, Dallas TX, Farmington Hills MI, Indianapolis IN, Phoenix AZ or Tampa FL.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the development and management of the Assistant Underwriting development program while leading and motivating a high-performing team, ensuring quality standards are consistently met and effectively allocating and prioritizing workloads. Collaborating with other departments, to build strong partnerships to enhance cross-functional initiatives and drive outcomes within the Associate Underwriting team. Focus on continuous improvement to drive the implementation of innovative strategies and best practices, optimizing processes and achieving exceptional program outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, train, provide performance feedback and assign duties of direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.

  • Design, implement, and oversee Associate Underwriting development program that aligns with organizational goals, ensuring they meet quality standards and objectives.

  • Evaluate team capabilities and project requirements to allocate resources and set priorities effectively, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards while fostering team development and productivity.

  • Establish and maintain quality standards for learning and development programs, conducting regular assessments and implementing improvements as needed.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on objectives, optimize resource sharing, and strengthen communication channels, driving cohesive initiatives across the organization.

  • Identify and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance program efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

  • Establish and manage performance metrics, conducting regular data analysis to generate actionable insights and provide recommendations that support informed decision-making.

  • Communicate with stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

  • Facilitate training and development opportunities for team members through coaching and mentoring, focusing on skill enhancement and career growth to prepare them for future opportunities within the organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work-related experience.

  • 5 years middle market commercial lines underwriting experience with thorough underwriting workflow and tasks.

  • 1 year leadership experience preferred.

  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment.

  • Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
