Northrop Grumman Defense systems sector is seeking a Manager Team Leader 2 (TST Team Chief) to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The selected candidate will lead a team of retired military officers, non-commissioned officers, and highly skilled senior professionals working with general guidance from U.S. Army military and U.S. Army Civilian Professionals in accomplishment of the Mission Command Training Program’s (MCTP) mission to train Theater Army, Corps, and Division commanders and staffs in simulated large scale combat operations.

This position description does not represent a current opening but may be used to identify candidates with skills and experience for positions within Northrop Grumman that frequently become available. Candidates who express an interest may be considered for future positions at Northrop Grumman

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the contractors supporting a Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) Operations group ensuring Performance Work Statement compliance and effective and timely support is provided for functionally specific U.S. Army academic seminars, exercise planning, exercise analysis, After Action Review development and facilitation, and exercise simulation operator training and control
  • Works effectively with the customer to support MCTP’s 330 calendar day plan, prepare, execute, and assess cycle for up to 5 Warfighter Exercises and other-directed events per year
  • Travel to worldwide exercise locations and ensure effective Operations Group support at geographically separated locations up to 120 days per year
  • Deploy with and support our U.S. Army customer during designated contingency operations as directed
  • Coaches and Professionally grows team members, providing guidance to team on development, performance, and productivity issues, as needed
  • Identifies and analyzes problems, plans, tasks, and solutions
  • Reports team accomplishments, achievements, and productivity
  • Leads the team in Quality Management processes and performance
  • Develops and maintains the teams contractor operations and training, standing operating procedures, promulgates guidance to functional team leaders and training officers, and monitors compliance

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Army Command and General Staff Course, Or Military Education Level (4) equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
  • Former Field grade officer, Warrant Officer, or Sergeant Major
  • Successfully served in a field grade officer key developmental positions at brigade/battalion level
  • One or more of the following
    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience, or
    • Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 30% of the time)
  • Must be able to attain a U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • War College (MEL1) graduate or equivalent
  • Retired colonel (0-6) or equivalent
  • Successfully served in a field grade officers key developmental position at Division/Corps level staff positions
  • Top Secret security clearance
  • Mission Command Training Program organizational experience
  • Experience with Constructive Simulation Models (e.g., Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC), WARfighters SIMulation (WARSIM)

Salary Range: $87,300.00 - $130,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date. However, this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
