We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join Snap!

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the Preview team to evolve Snap’s editing UI and expand nonlinear video editing capabilities, directly supporting the company’s Spotlight creation goals

  • Drive the re-architecture of the editing pipeline and roll out a universal multimedia data model to support creation and consumption across messaging, short-form video, and beyond

  • Prioritize and deliver high-impact editing features with a lean team, balancing rapid execution with technical excellence and scalability

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, DS, QE, and partner engineering teams to ensure strategic alignment, product velocity, and high-quality delivery

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead lean, high-performing engineering teams and deliver impactful, user-facing features in fast-paced environments

  • Deep expertise in mobile video processing and editing, including codecs, rendering, nonlinear workflows, and performance optimization

  • Strong architectural and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to drive system design, prioritize effectively, and balance product velocity with engineering quality

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, including significant time in the social media or consumer tech industries.

  • 1+ years of engineering management experience leading teams in shipping user-facing features

  • Experience in collaborating closely with Product and Data Science throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from spec definition to delivery and iteration

  • Deep understanding of mobile video editing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of video editing frameworks and technologies, including hands-on experience with tools like FFmpeg on iOS or Android

  • Proven track record of launching industry-leading video features or technologies at scale

    Compensation

    In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

    Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

    The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$343,000 annually.


     

    Zone B:

    The base salary range for this position is $218,000-$326,000 annually.

    Zone C:

    The base salary range for this position is $195,000-$292,000 annually.

    This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
