As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology, Data & Analytics Service, you will be responsible for leading multiple teams and managing daily implementation activities. Your duties will include identifying and escalating issues, ensuring that the work produced by your team meets compliance standards, fulfills business needs, and follows tactical best practices.
Job responsibilities:
- Provides guidance and manages a team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities to deliver high quality software
- Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
- Participate in design sessions with fellow programmers, business analysts, and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Primarily, design and implement secure and robust REST APIs using technologies such as Java Spring Boot and Spring MVC for cloud native micro-service applications
- Demonstrates overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle with solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Participate in code reviews
- Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience.
- Experience leading technology projects working as a hands-on (actively coding) Application Development Lead or related role.
- Experience leading technology projects and managing technologists
- Proficient in automation, continuous delivery methods and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Experience with using public cloud products, such as EC2, etc.
- Strong understanding of HTML / JavaScript / React and experience in building web applications
- Experience designing and developing cloud native (AWS) micro services in a highly distributed environment
- Extensive knowledge and experience working in an Agile environment.
- Java - Expert-level implementation skills with the Core Spring Framework and including other sub-projects like Spring Security, Spring data Cassandra Spring Apache Kafka
- Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Hands on experience with writing functional and regression automated tests to be run as part of the build pipeline.
- Experience working and collaborating with global teams across multiple time zones
- Hands on experience in developing web front ends using HTML / JavaScript / React.
