Core Responsibilities

  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

  • Oversees the timely delivery of effective RFPs. Monitors workflows and evaluates staffing levels to accommodate business needs for RFP specialists. Advances operational efficiency by continually reevaluating staff structure, RFP workflows, technology, and trends within the industry. Uses unit dashboards to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Maintains all RFP business needs and engages budget and space-planning discussions to address any concerns. Provides strategic direction to business leaders on RFP-related matters in various business lines and/or regions.

  • Ensures that all RFP content is compliant with corporate and regulatory guidelines. Provides quality control of work produced by more junior RFP specialists. Advises crew and leaders on changes that impact the style, content, or production of RFPs.

  • Responds to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) by creating new text for the most complex and high profile opportunities and generating pre-written responses that will serve as a template for others. Incorporates significant industry knowledge into responses, coaches other crew in RFP best practices. May review RFPs from others for quality control and guidance.

  • Reviews, interprets, and researches questions about Vanguard and related subject matters within short timeframes. Owns the RFP completion process at each stage, including research, writing, revision, and production. Advises sales professionals based on the content of the responses.

  • Uses expertise of the market and competitive environments to help position Vanguard services appropriately. Collects and disseminates relevant competitive data among various internal teams.

  • Develops business strategy and makes recommendations to the sales professionals to increase Vanguard sales activity, improve client outcomes, and pursue prospects.

  • Consults with business areas to identify RFP needs, resolve issues, provide guidance to RFP crew, and streamline subject matter expert research inquiries.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years related work experience, plus at least two years of proposals/RFP/RFI experience

  • Minimum two years of management experience

  • Undergraduate degree required, Graduate degree preferred

  • APMP certification

  • RFP knowledgebase software experience

  • Intellectual curiosity and high EQ

  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence AI in RFPs
