Position Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to lead and support revenue accounting for The Home Depot. This role will be the subject matter expert on revenue recognition and assist with associated month end closing and reporting which will include income statement review, journal entry review, and reconciliation review.  This role will contribute to review and sign off of public filings. This role will also support revenue recognition issue resolution, which will include researching issues to determine and resolve the root cause. This will require close cross functional partnership such as IT to address issues timely. Research will require the ability to navigate complexities of multiple systems, the ability to research large data sets and leverage tools such as Google Big Query. An additional component to this role will be the ability to deeply understand US GAAP for revenue recognition and the impacts to critical order to cash processes.

The following skills will be imperative in this role: self-motivated, detail oriented, and ability to simplify and succinctly communicate on complex topics to all levels of the organization. The individual in this role must have solid US GAAP revenue knowledge and experience in SAP S/4 Hana. This role will be critical in ensuring the completeness and accuracy of revenue at THD. The individual in this role must be comfortable with ambiguity, large and complex data, working cross functionally, and summarizing complex topics into easy-to-understand communications. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the continued completeness and accuracy of THD revenue.  

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Strategy Mindset (30%)

  • Continuously aims to create shareholder value by proposing and supporting transformational ideas and projects.
  • Ensure that the future state process design is suitable to meet both short term and long-term expectations.  
  • Lead root-cause analysis for identifying sustainable solutions and improvements across the process in S/4 Hana

Continuous Improvements & Controls (20%)

  • Lead the continuous improvement of FBS processes.      
  • Works closely with accounting operations, project teams, controls and compliance teams.

People Management & Team Leadership (20%)             

  • Provides strong leadership and the ability to lead during significant change
  • Manages the cross functional relationships with various teams with respect for all people
  • Take care of our people by closely working with the FBS Team Leader, looking constantly to allocate in the best possible way the activities across the process and directly impacting in quality work-life balance for the team.

Collaboration (30%)

  • Build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, collaborating with experts of multidisciplinary teams for identifying enhancement opportunities by having a holistic view of the process.
  • Collaborates with business partners to align on objectives and expectations and ensure project teams deliver against them.

Nature and Scope

  • This position reports to the Senior Manager, Order to Cash FBS Business Process
  • Typically requires overnight travel 0-10% of the time.

  • Most of the time spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.                
  • On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • 7 Years of Relevant Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Previous people or project team management experience           
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7-8 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related field is preferred
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance or other designation (e.g., CPA, CMA)
  • Strong understanding of the US GAAP Revenue Recognition Standard, ASC 606
  • Experience with OTC processes in SAP S/4 Hana including SAP Customer Activity Repository (CAR) and Blackline is desired
  • Experience in different technologies like AI, Machine Learning, and business query & analytics tools is highly desired
  • Ability to build queries and research large data sets leveraging tools such as Google Big Query
  • Ability to identify defects through data analysis and other mechanisms and drive fixes to root cause issues through direct and indirect influence
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and strong ability to delve into details, analyze, and succinctly communicate findings and actions from findings
  • The person in this role will be a dynamic leader with abilities to adapt quickly and lead through change
  • Experience in Order to Cash process
