About the role

StreetEasy seeks a Product Design Manager to lead and inspire senior and mid-level product designers responsible for entire business verticals, fostering collaboration and success within the discipline and wider Experience Design team. The ideal candidate will define and implement best practices, and help guide the product design team as needed through the entire development cycle. Additionally, they will lead high-impact initiatives, recognizing their influence on individual and departmental growth, and company objectives. They will have a proven track record of developing data-driven strategies and innovative experiences, and a passion for mentoring and empowering others to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Set and uphold a standard of excellence for product design practices with a primary focus on design excellence, team growth, and stakeholder management.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Experience Design to define team priorities, plan design-driven initiatives, and shape the direction of the broader Experience Design team.

  • Coach the team in translating user and business insights into thoughtful, impactful product experiences.

  • Use data to make recommendations around bandwidth allocations, ensuring commitments are met, the team maintains a healthy work-life balance, and team members are set up for success in advocating for themselves.

  • Provide clarity and guidance to ICs to work more effectively and coach them to implement optimal design solutions.

  • Guide your team in developing processes that ensure high-quality output.

  • Set the strategy and vision for your area of ownership, and provide a strong product and design voice with your cross-functional partners.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with fellow experience design disciplines, product management, engineering, research, data science, marketing, and partner support to ensure a smooth product development process.

  • Foster a culture of design thinking, continuous learning, and constructive critique.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $157,100.00 - $250,900.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you areMust haves:
  • 8+ years of experience designing digital consumer products, including 1-3 years of experience directly managing product designers

  • Inspires a customer-centric mindset grounded in business impact.

  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills, fostering a positive, inclusive team culture that continues to raise the quality bar

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and visual) in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to influence and build consensus.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, from individual contributors to executive staff.

  • Specialist in design processes, facilitation, and guiding design through A/B testing and iteration

  • Customer-obsessed, with a bias for action and a drive to deliver impactful experiences quickly

  • Ability to adapt plans and priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Nice to haves:
  • Jira experience, specifically to track project work

  • Proficiency in using AI in exploration and ideation stages, or native app prototyping

  • Experience living in or working in New York City
