About the Role:

As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for leading strategic sourcing and procurement activities specifically for the Sales department. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, you will partner closely with sales leadership and internal stakeholders to develop and implement tailored procurement strategies that align with sales objectives, drive cost efficiencies, and ensure high-quality services and partnerships. You will be expected to have deep expertise in Sales, Marketing, professional services, and other indirect categories. This will be a hybrid in-office role for candidates who can plan to be in the New York City office for approximately 2 days per week.

This role will be based remotely in the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Sales stakeholders to understand goals and identify category opportunities.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies optimizing cost, quality, and service for sales partners across a variety of indirect categories, like technology, professional services, and events.
  • Manage procurement for a large volume of sales events globally under tight deadlines, including vendor sourcing, agency management, contract negotiation, and budget management.
  • Analyze sales departments spend data to identify cost savings and work with stakeholders to achieve them. Utilize strategic sourcing processes to optimize spending.
  • Advise sales leadership on industry trends and supplier performance. Evaluate and manage vendor relationships for optimal performance. Collaborate with senior executives from suppliers to drive value and innovation.
  • Oversee the contract lifecycle, ensuring favorable terms.
  • Improve procurement policies to increase strategic impact in sales, marketing, and events.Promote e-procurement tool usage to enhance procurement visibility and efficiency. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or a related field
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, experience with sales-related, marketing-related or events categories
  • Experience in spend analysis, category management, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strategic thinking with a proven track record of delivering results
  • Understanding of legal contracts and procurement
  • Proven track record of working with multiple executive stakeholders
  • Ability to interface with senior leadership
  • Strong consulting skills in change management, project management, and presentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Marketing, or similar fields
  • Experience with Coupa
  • Experience working with Source to Pay Orchestration tools
  • Experience with large ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Workday
  • Familiarity with e-procurement technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

$69,000$135,000 USD
