Cloud Cost Management (CCM) provides insights for engineering and finance teams to understand how infrastructure changes impact costs, allocate spend across your organization, and identify inefficiencies. Our tools are used to reign in costs and ensure that cloud spend dollars are not wasted. The Optimize team on CCM maintains a library of recommendations to identify wasted spend, remediations thereof, and create automated actions for reducing overall costs.

Building and maintaining the recommendations can be labor intensive, requiring becoming experts in the operation of and billing for each cloud service, and tapping into Datadog’s customer telemetry and observability data to identify infrastructure modifications that save money without jeopardizing system stability. In this role, you’ll have direct influence on the product roadmap and prioritization of new features.

We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who cares about technical excellence, enabling customer success, and the professional development of engineers on the team.

  • Own technical and product outcomes, including code quality, system SLAs/SLOs, and user experience through goal setting, design collaboration, and code reviews
  • Identify strengths and development areas for Engineers on the team to help them grow in their careers
  • Work with other managers in the CCM group to foster a culture of ownership, independence, and accountability

Who You Are:

  • An experienced (3+ years) Engineering Manager with a history of shipping quickly while maintaining a high quality standard, driving impact for customers
  • An empathetic leader who builds high-performing teams through a human-first approach to management
  • The ability to “elevation-shift” from high-level customer-focused product roadmapping to deep technical implementation conversations
  • Comfortable with writing code, performing code reviews, participating in technical design discussions
  • Experience managing cloud spend and/or cloud infrastructure
