About the Manager, HR Operations at Headspace:
As the Manager of HR Operations, you will be a hands-on team member with the ability to flex from strategic to tactical work and be a thoughtful leader and partner to the broader People Operations team and beyond. This role will lead the charge as we focus on a solid HR foundation, allowing us to build for scale, while providing the opportunity to develop, enhance, and implement solutions to a variety of complex HR challenges in a dynamic and fast moving environment. Key focus areas will include the design and implementation of People policies and processes to ensure best in class operations, core HR compliance, and people systems optimization focusing on self service and automation to ensure our people tools enable employees to focus on high impact work.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about great employee experiences, leverage their foundational knowledge of HR to tackle a broad range of priorities, be invigorated by creating scalable solutions, leverage data and technology to inform process efficiencies, and have a strong desire to develop and grow their direct reports. Reporting to the Senior Director, People Operations, this role will help ensure that Headspace’s People Ops team is innovative, strategic, data centric, and results oriented. This role’s scope will focus on some of the most critical components of supporting Headspace employees throughout their employment journey and deliver business impact.
What you will do:
- Lead and manage the HR Ops team, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth day-to-day operational excellence.
- Own the delivery, effectiveness, and continuous evolution of core HR processes and policies such as policy management, compliance training, LOA best practices, etc., while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across the US and the UK.
- Collaborate with People Business Partners and other cross functional teams to diagnose and implement solutions needed to improve operational effectiveness.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regulations and requirements to minimize risk and exposure to the company; partner with legal to address any employment related legal matters.
- Partner with internal communications to support communication strategies for People Ops programs and announcements.
- Oversee and enhance inbound People Ops requests and employee self-service resources, ensuring people ops team materials are up to date and relevant to provide a seamless experience for employees.
- Design a variety of resources ranging from online materials to internal standard operating procedures; tailoring existing processes to meet business specific needs.
- Drive and support the enhancement and evolution of Company HRIS, UKG, to ensure it’s enabling us to work efficiently and effectively.
- Help create metrics and processes to evaluate policies and associated programs to ensure data-driven approach to measure effectiveness; use data to recommend and implement solutions in support of achieving team and/or business initiatives.
What you will bring:
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience building and improving the employee experience in an HR/People Operations role
- 2+ years of experience managing a team, focused on driving for accountability and results
- Strong HR functional expertise; knowledgeable on employment law compliance, policy creation, process development
- Strong business acumen to provide solutions that deliver impact, demonstrate creative problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise sound judgment
- Prior experience building scalable operational support infrastructure of all people systems, including HRIS
- Ability to use data to drive recommendations and decision making
- Ability to think ahead and build for the long term to create proactive, versus reactive, workflow
- Passionate about providing an extraordinary experience for employees at all levels
- Confidence in crafting and recommending projects or programs needed for achieving functional goals
- Makes others better through work reviews, thorough documentation, area of expertise guidance
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience working at a digital health company
- International HR best practices (particularly in the UK)
- Experience using UKG as an end to end HRIS solution
- Familiarity with Zendesk as a ticketing and knowledge base platform
- Experience with immigration matters in the US and UK
Pay & Benefits:
The anticipated new hire base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$138,000 + equity + benefits.
Our salary ranges are based on the job, level, and location, and reflect the lowest to highest geographic markets where we are hiring for this role within the United States. Within this range, individual compensation is determined by a candidate’s location as well as a range of factors including but not limited to: unique relevant experience, job-related skills, and education or training.
