Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
As a key member of the O&T (Operations & Technology) Finance team, the Finance Manager will own the budgeting/LRP (long range plan), forecasting, expense management, headcount, capital and allocation processes for the News Group O&T department.
This role provides the unique opportunity to gain a solid understanding of NBCU operations through daily exposure/interaction with O&T operational teams as well as the greater NBCU finance organization. Some of the brands that we support are TODAY, NBC News Now, Nightly News, Meet the Press, etc.
Position overview:
- Own monthly and quarterly close processes through accurate pacing updates, variance analysis, journal entries, expense accruals, allocations, and other necessary closing activities
- Create/update/maintain operating models for budgeting & tracking of expenses
- Responsible for owning the P&L planning processes for all estimates, budgets, and long-range plans (LRP) for Production operations
- Work with operators on KPIs and other ad hoc modeling
- Perform P&L analysis, i.e. identifying risks and opportunities and assisting in summarizing performance in pitch presentations to senior management for estimates & plans
- Track capital by integrating into operations teams to understand schedule and delivery
- Create reports with metrics for budget and P&L tracking purposes
- Maintain and support build out of various allocations
- Partner with operations teams and participate in regular business meetings, operations analysis, and strategic projects to drive productivity
- Present on-going results to finance leadership & operations
- Process and analyze all the necessary reports in software tools including SAP, BW, Essbase, AOE, SNAP (AP tool), Purchase Manager (PO tool), and Concur (T&E)
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting
- Proven experience of financial modeling, analysis and forecasting
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment with minimal supervision
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles: accruals, amortization of pre-paid expenses, P&L, balance sheet, and free cash flow
- Quick learner and team player
- Must be proficient with MS Office Suite products - particularly advanced excel skills (comfortable with v-lookups, if statements, pivot tables, etc.) and PowerPoint
- Must be willing to work in New York
This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
