The role:
This role will work closely with the Director, Responsible Banking to manage SoFi’s 2nd line Responsible Banking Compliance program (the “Program”). As a subject matter expert, this role will consult on complaints handling oversight, UDAAP and Responsible Banking risks, controls, issues and governance across the enterprise; educate business and other compliance partners on Responsible Banking expectations; complete the annual Responsible Banking Risk Assessment; and partner with the Fair Lending & Responsible Banking (FLRB) Analytics team on the testing and monitoring plan.
What you’ll do:
Develop, maintain, and enhance Compliance policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and guidance documents, as needed, to integrate expectations of the Program into Business Unit’s day-to-day activities.
Execute effective governance and oversight of regulatory risks, as engaged by Compliance partners, including assessment of new and changing business initiatives, review of 1st line procedures, review of marketing and other customer-facing materials, review of models and strategy, and monitoring of complaints.
Review complaint handling training materials, assignments, and completion reports on a regular basis. Provide subject matter expertise, support and leadership to Compliance partners, Business Unit managers, Independent Compliance Testing, and Audit with regard to regulatory issues and remediations.
Provide oversight and challenge of 1st line’s adherence to Program requirements and recommendations for improvement.
Support the Director, Responsible Banking in gathering artifacts, reviewing and/or drafting responses for complaints and regulatory monitoring activities, regulatory examinations and audits, as needed.
Oversee and/or execute special projects as assigned.
What you’ll need:
Possess and maintain superior knowledge of compliance laws and regulations including UDAP/UDAAP, Regulation E, Regulation V, Regulation DD, Regulation P, Regulation Z, and other applicable consumer compliance regulations
Five (5) plus years of focused fair lending and responsible banking experience at large regional financial institution or equivalent experience. Responsible Banking preferred.
Applied experience in execution of regulatory risk assessments. Experience in complaint resolution and/or complaint handling monitoring and oversight is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including testing and monitoring reports and exam and audit responses.
Substantial broad-based knowledge and experience in applying laws and regulations, designing, managing and overseeing compliance programs, and processes and handling regulatory matters.
Ability to manage implementation of regulatory requirements with assigned business units.
Strong analytical skills
- CRCM certification is highly desirable
