Job Summary:
Application Engineering Program Management Team at Cat Digital manages project teams comprised of digital resources, marketing resources, business resources, and others tasked with developing and maintaining marketing & digital solutions used by Caterpillar dealers and customers. This position will lead a team of Projects Managers to deliver complex cross-functional digital projects spanning multiple applications in line with Cat Digital Strategy.
What You Will Do:
  • Lead a team of high performing Project Managers and projects related to developing business and technical solutions.
  • Organize and coordinate teams who work on diverse aspects of digital programs.
  • Manage all aspects of a program to ensure the program is implemented, accepted, and accomplished within a set deadline.
  • Plan and monitor program development to ensure that quality standards are achieved.
  • Serve as a liaison and build bridges among groups within and outside of the digital field. Translate corporate objectives into program objectives and practices.

What You Will Have:
  • Organizational Leadership: Extensive experience in leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing, and achieving objectives.
  • Program Management: Extensive experience in the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.
  • Project Management, Control and Reporting: Extensive experience in project management; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control digital software development projects using appropriate technical resources; creating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and other data visualization tools to communicate findings to stakeholders and executive leadership team.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience in decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Change Control: Extensive experience in the processes and procedures by which a change is identified, evaluated, approved, monitored, and documented; Ability to manage changes in the production environment and processes effectively.
  • Problem Management: Extensive experience in the processes involved in problem control, error control during software development; ability to identify the root cause of problems in a timely and accurate manner and bring them to a successful resolution.

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • Extensive program management leadership experience working with software engineering teams in an agile environment (typically 8+ years).
  • Experience leading and coaching Project Managers (typically 3+ years).
  • Experience delivering complex cross-functional digital projects in matrixed organizations.
  • Proven experience with project management concepts including project charters, scheduling and planning projects and successful completion.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Confluence, Power BI, Microsoft Project, or equivalent tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or influence others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.
  • Should have strong project management skills, team leadership skills, excellent communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills.

This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL offices.

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
