Job Summary
The Manager, Fixed Asset Accounting will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounts for all aspects of the Company’s investment in Fixed Assets in accordance with GAAP. In addition, the individual will have working experience of application of technical accounting principles including Revaluation Accounting (ASC 805) and Lease Accounting (ASC 842). The Manager, Fixed Asset Accounting will be responsible for preparing a monthly management reporting package for key fixed asset activities and contributing asset and depreciation information to monthly forecasts and annual budget processes. The role will also establish regular meetings with the operational teams to ensure accurate input to the accounting processes in the area of capitalization of labor, inventory reporting and asset disposal/transfer management.
The candidate must be highly detail-oriented, accurate and capable of analyzing information and drawing conclusions in a clear, concise manner.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain General Ledger records and reconciliations for all aspects of the Company’s assets, depreciation and amortization accounting.
- Apply current accounting guidance to all aspects of the asset accounting process.
- Establish a monthly asset financial reporting package highlighting areas of risk and performance management for leadership. Enhance measurements as circumstances require.
- Work with Information Technology to track and capitalize internal and contractor costs for internally developed software in accordance with GAAP. (ASC 350-40)
- Maintain Tax Depreciation records for all Fixed Assets and work with tax advisors on yearly reporting package.
- Drive improvements in asset management and reporting processes and ensure the Company’s financial and business systems are appropriate for the safeguard and accurate recording of asset values and obligations.
- Partner with the FP&A and other teams to manage capital budgets and forecasts.
- Maintain and manage year end and interim audit requirements for areas of responsibility.
- Work with Supply Chain & Procurement on coordination of asset reporting.
- Lead the implementation of a new Fixed Asset Software
- Supervise, mentor, and manage a staff accountant, providing guidance on day-to-day tasks.
- Assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and conduct regular check-ins to ensure the accountant meets deadlines.
- Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and offer feedback to support the growth and success of team members.
What We Need
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5 to 8 years in accounting or finance, with a strong emphasis on fixed assets, capital projects, and general ledger experience
- Minimum of 5 years of management of month-end accounting processes including general ledger reconciliations, close package preparation, and year-end audit support and management
- Hands-on experience of fixed asset management modules within an integrated accounting system
- Thorough understanding of financial statements and application of GAAP
- Proficient with Excel and other database tools (i.e., Looker)
- Effective communication skills including ability to summarize information in actionable, presentable format for executives, auditors and investors
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desired Qualifications
- CPA and/or MBA in Finance preferred
- Experience with Oracle NetSuite and NetAssets is preferred
- Experience with ASC 805, 842 and 350-40 is preferred
