The Role:
The General Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting department, providing leadership and direction to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to accounting standards. Your responsibilities will include managing a team of accounting professionals, developing internal controls, and overseeing the preparation of financial statements and budgets. You will also analyze financial data to identify trends and advise on business decisions. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding the financial strategy of the organization and supporting its growth objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and lead team in all accounting and finance functions, and policies
- Work independently as a component of a team striving for the same goals
- Support staff in daily accounting responsibilities across multiple ERP Systems ensuring that entries are processed in a timely and accurate manner
- Utilize strong communication skills to interface with Business Finance (our customer), and others including; AP staff, technical staff, senior leadership, and procurement
- Regularly performs internal control assessments to ensure strong internal controls are maintained and are continuing to adhere to compliance requirements
- Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of all GL processes by reviewing procedures and workflows, analyzing problems, recommending solutions and assisting in the implementation of new processes to drive cost saving and accuracy
- This role will assist with training new and existing employees on GL related processes; ensuring the quality of work performed is in alignment with departmental goals
- Ability to adapt and effectively interact with teams at different states and facilities
- Respond to accounting inquiries from domestic and international business partners including interim and annual audits
- Ensure all supporting documentation is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
- Consistently evaluate areas for process improvement
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA or CPA equivalent is a plus
- 7+ years of hands-on accounting experience
- Experience in manufacturing preferred
- In-depth working knowledge of the General Ledger & US GAAP
- Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail
- Competency with Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel functions
- Experience with Oracle or other ERP accounting systems and fixed asset software
- Experience with Blackline Journal Entries and Reconciliation modules a plus
- Highly organized, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with executives in multiple locations
- Ability to act and operate independently, with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish directives
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
