As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking Credit Card, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer with 8-10 plus years expertise in COBOL, CICS, IMS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, CA7 and Changeman
  • Experience with Credit Card Payment Processing service called TS2 Architecture and TS2 Options, with hands-on experience in a wide range of cardholder functionalities such as new credit card account setup, application processing, transaction posting, account cycling, statement generation, pricing, change-in-terms, and collections management
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Strong automation testing experience along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Cloud experience (AWS)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with Kafka, Smartspec and Jenkins
  • AWS Certification
