Job Summary
Our company is seeking a talented Logistics Specialist to join our Supply Chain team. This position will coordinate and track shipments, negotiate with carriers, and ensure efficient, cost-effective delivery and compliance with regulations. This role requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to resolve issues, manage documentation, and build relationships with suppliers and customers. To succeed in this role, you should be professional, highly analytical, and possess excellent communication skills. The successful candidate should also have an in-depth knowledge of mathematical and forecasting policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Arrange and track shipments, negotiate with freight carriers, and optimize transportation methods to reduce costs.
- Develop effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns
- Participate in periodic forecast meetings with Sales, Supply Chain, and other related departments
- Communicate with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues
- Monitor and report on important changes in freight forecasts, warehousing capacity, and inventory levels
- Process transportation related invoices for payment.
- Full reconciliation of invoices and associated paperwork to ensure amounts match expected charges
- Provide payment status and details to various transportation companies upon request.
- Create freight claims with submission to transportation company and follow up until claim is paid
- Review weekly transportation invoices to determine sales orders needing charge backs to vendors
- Establish transit times for specific freight lanes within Oracle – EBS.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Solid understanding of transportation industry
- Experience in the shipping and distribution field, along with any distribution management
- Familiarity with freight claims process
- Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures
- Understanding of import logistics, tariffs, and duties
- Experience with Oracle EBS and Microsoft Office software like Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills for analyzing supply chain data and solving logistical challenges
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, energetic individual who can work independently and complete required tasks
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to manage a broad range of personalities, both internally and externally
