As Litigation Counsel reporting to the VP Legal - Litigation & Employment, you’ll be a legal leader and front-line litigator defending and advancing the interests of a $3B public tech communications company. As we’ve grown and expanded our geographic reach and product portfolio, our litigation portfolio has grown too. We need a savvy and practical litigator to help handle these challenges. If you’re a confident self-starter who enjoys managing a variety of responsibilities in a collegial but fast-paced, loosely-structured environment, we’d love to talk.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a variety of offensive and defensive litigations, including commercial, privacy, bankruptcy, securities, employment, and patent. Substantive knowledge not required, just a demonstrated interest and ability to learn new areas of law.

  • Conduct fact investigations in litigations and pre-litigation disputes.

  • Supervise network of outside counsel.

  • Work closely with a senior litigation paralegal to manage responses to third party civil and criminal discovery requests.

  • Directly represent RingCentral or act as local counsel in smaller litigations and third party subpoenas.

  • Manage ediscovery.

  • Work collaboratively with regulatory, privacy, and commercial legal teams around the world to optimize risk.

  • Stay apprised of important legal developments and advise on joining or filing amicus briefs and supporting industry legislative efforts.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Membership in good standing with at least one state bar.

  • 3+ years’ experience in litigation, including substantial experience in the litigation department of a mid-size or national law firm.

  • Substantial experience leading litigation tasks; document preservation, collection, and production; depositions; mediations; and motions practice, including filings in state and federal courts.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

  • Confidence to reach sound, informed decisions quickly and under uncertainty.

  • Nice to have: Prior in-house experience, especially at a technology or telecommunications company. Working knowledge of software-as-a-service (SaaS). Substantive experience in bankruptcy, privacy, IP, and/or contract disputes.

The compensation range for this position is between $100,000 and $174,000 for full-time employees, in addition to eligibility for variable pay, equity, and benefits.
