Overview

Corporate department manages external law firm relationships — billing compliance, vendor performance, and operational efficiency across a global panel of firms. We’re looking for deep legal operations expertise and hands-on experience applying AI to legal workflows. This person will help us modernize how we manage vendor data, streamline billing review processes, and build scalable frameworks that reduce manual effort across the team.

Responsibilities
  • • Evaluate current legal operations workflows (billing review, QBR preparation, benchmarking, staffing compliance) and identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven automation• Build or configure tools that surface insights from vendor spend data, staffing trends, and firm performance metrics• Partner with corporate legal operations team members to develop standardized templates, dashboards, and reporting frameworks• Document workflows, decision logic, and AI model outputs to ensure transparency and auditability• Advise on best practices for responsible AI adoption within a legal operations context, including data privacy and accuracy considerations
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications• 7+ years in legal operations, legal project management, or legal technology — ideally within a large in-house legal department or top-tier law firm• Demonstrated experience deploying AI/ML tools in legal workflows (e.g., contract analysis, e-billing, spend analytics, document review)• Strong working knowledge of e-billing platforms and legal spend management (e.g., CounselLink, Legal Tracker, TeamConnect, or similar)• Proficiency with data analysis tools — SQL, Excel/pivot modeling, or BI platforms — applied to legal financial data• Familiarity with LEDES billing codes, UTBMS task/expense codes, and outside counsel guideline enforcement

Preferred Qualifications• Experience with generative AI tools (LLMs, NLP) and an understanding of where they add value vs. where human review remains critical in legal ops• Background in vendor management, including QBR facilitation, rate negotiations, and staffing guideline compliance• Experience building or refining operational playbooks and SOPs for legal teams• Comfort working cross-functionally with finance, procurement, and technology teams
