Role

Legal Data Analysts are responsible for a variety of duties related to the input, quality, analysis, and improvement of various datasets involving complex legal and financial subject matters. Most of the data we work with is extracted from court filings and various financial documents and used to provide unique insight on distressed and restructuring markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in various complex legal and financial topics relevant to the bankruptcy and restructuring industries, with both qualitative and quantitative subject matter
  • Performing complex legal and financial data entry and/or quality assurance
  • Improving data collection and input processes
  • Maintenance and organization of workflows
  • Analysis support for the editorial team
  • Support and mentorship the team’s junior analysts

Requirements:

  • Adept research proficiency: has ability to pick up complicated restructuring topics and approach them with patience and thoroughness is critical to the success of the team.
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking: Language in the source materials is often very nuanced and dense, with minor wording changes having major analysis implications. It is essential to ask questions, think critically and contextually, and spot errors.
  • Willingness to dive into unfamiliar content with confidence: Since business needs and restructuring market trends are dynamic, the role requires flexibility with what topics are of primary focus.
  • Diligent organization and workflow management abilities: The volume of content inflow is large and the data collection processes are incremental, with unknown timelines. The interception of actionable workflow triggers and effective organization of queues, progress and completion ensure smooth and timely delivery of complete data.
  • Effective communication: Datasets intersect across various topics, making communication and collaboration vital for workflow efficiency.
