The LX Visual Designer will create engaging educational content for Airbnb Hosts through visual storytelling, ensuring clarity and effectiveness in learning experiences.
The summary above was generated by AI

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join:

Airbnb creates opportunities for millions of hosts to build a business, develop connections with guests and hosts, and positively impact local communities. The strength of the global host community sets Airbnb apart. We keep hosts at the center of everything we do. The Airbnb Community team treats hosts as partners by fostering connection, supporting their development and success, and incorporating their feedback in our product and policies.

The Difference You Will Make:

At Airbnb, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools we have to help our global host community succeed. The Learning Experience (LX) team plays a critical role in this mission—designing meaningful, actionable, and best-in-class educational content and experiences for hosts at every stage of their journey.

We’re looking for a thoughtful and versatile LX Visual Designer to bring our learning experiences to life through clear, engaging, and high-impact design. In this role, you’ll combine artful design, visual storytelling and instructional clarity to shape graphics, user experiences, frameworks, presentations, and multimedia assets that make education more intuitive and memorable for Hosts around the world.

Reporting to the Director of Host Development, you’ll partner closely with content designers, the LX Production Lead, and cross-functional collaborators to design content that’s not only beautiful, but also behaviorally effective. If you’re passionate about the intersection of learning, design, and storytelling—and love making complex ideas simple and visual—this role is for you.

A Typical Day:

  • Design clear, visually engaging educational content for Airbnb Hosts across diverse formats, including workshop decks and assets, digital toolkits, instructional videos, interactive content, iconography, graphics, and educational tools such as guides, workbooks, or assessments.
  • Translate strategic learning objectives into effective visual solutions that drive engagement, comprehension, and behavior change for meaningful action—rooted in an understanding of how people learn.
  • Contribute at every stage of creative development—from low-fidelity concepting to final, high-quality asset delivery—maintaining a strong eye for craft and clarity.
  • Apply a broad visual toolkit—motion, illustration, photography, UX flows, infographics, and storytelling—to create compelling and accessible learning experiences.
  • Help build and maintain a modular Host Education design system to support scalable, reusable content across channels. Experience with developing and managing content (CMS) and design language systems a bonus.
  • Ensure all visual assets align with Airbnb’s brand guidelines, instructional standards, and accessibility requirements for a global audience.
  • Collaborate closely with LX strategists, content and production leads, the host community, and cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive, impactful execution.
  • Manage timelines and communication with stakeholders to ensure assets are delivered on time, on brand, and on budget, while continuously exploring fresh design approaches.

Your Expertise:

  • 10+ years of experience in visual communication or graphic design, ideally in tech, product, media, or creative agency environments. Experience in education or behavior science contexts is a plus.
  • Skilled across multiple visual disciplines, such as graphic design, illustration, motion, infographics, storytelling, interaction design, and photography.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality creative assets across diverse formats and channels—digital, live, and in-product.
  • Proficient in design tools such as Figma, Keynote, Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing software; experience with CMS/LMS platforms and generative AI tools is a plus.
  • Experience designing for global audiences with sensitivity to cultural, regional, and generational nuances.
  • Track record of producing premium creative work in collaboration with internal teams and external partners, including producers, editors, videographers, and localizers.
  • Strong aesthetic judgment with deep knowledge of brand systems, design standards, and accessibility best practices.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and mission-driven—with curiosity, empathy, and a genuine connection to Airbnb’s Hosts and values.
  • A current portfolio of work is required for each applicant.
