Overview
The Kubernetes Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and operating secure, reliable, and scalable container platforms across Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS). This role enables engineering teams to seamlessly deploy and operate cloud-native applications by delivering standardized platform capabilities, automation frameworks, and governance patterns. You will work across multiple cloud environments to enhance core platform functions including cluster lifecycle management, workload identity, networking, observability, and compliance guardrails while improving developer experience and overall operational resiliency.
Role• In this role, you will design, develop, and support essential Kubernetes platform components across AKS and EKS. • You will build automation and Infrastructure-as-Code modules, manage cluster provisioning and identity controls, and implement networking, ingress, and observability capabilities. • You will troubleshoot complex platform issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive systemic improvements that enhance platform reliability and scale. • You will collaborate closely with Cloud Architecture, Security, Product, and engineering teams to define platform standards, maintain enterprise guardrails, validate new requirements, and support consistent adoption of Kubernetes across Mastercard. • You will also participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-organizational initiatives that move the platform forward.
All About You• You have strong hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production environments and a deep understanding of cloud-native concepts such as containers, networking, RBAC, autoscaling, workload identity, and YAML-based configuration. • You are proficient with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, GitOps frameworks like Argo CD, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines. • You are comfortable working across both AKS and EKS and have experience integrating observability and automation tooling into large-scale platforms. • You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively across engineering and architecture teams, and contribute to building and maintaining platform standards and best practices. • You bring strong problem-solving skills, a mindset focused on automation and reliability, and the ability to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable capabilities at enterprise scale.
