About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer within the Fraud and Claims Technology team, part of the Technology for the Chief Operating Office (TCOO) group. TCOO delivers technology services that support key operational functions including control execution, strategic initiatives, business continuity, data services, regulatory relations, customer experience, enterprise shared services, supply chain management, and corporate properties. The group manages application portfolios and drives modernization and optimization across these domains.
Within TCOO, the Fraud and Claims Technology team is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to contribute to the development of the Enhanced Fraud Detection Solution (EFDES)-a proprietary fraud scoring suite designed to proactively detect and prevent fraudulent activity across multiple banking channels. At the heart of EFDES is the EFD scoring engine, which uses advanced risk models to identify high-risk transactions (suspect outsorts). This role focuses on building scalable, enterprise-grade solutions aligned with strategic business goals and requires deep technical expertise and a strong background in data engineering.

In this role, you will:
- Lead complex, enterprise-wide technology initiatives with broad impact
- Develop and promote standards and best practices for engineering large-scale technology solutions
- Design, code, test, debug, and document software for projects and programs
- Analyze and review large-scale technology solutions in the context of strategic business objectives and technical challenges
- Make decisions that influence companywide engineering practices and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate with senior technical experts, internal teams, and external industry groups to resolve complex issues and achieve goals
- Lead projects and mentor peers or junior engineers
- 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education
- 4+ years of experience with Java, React, and Spring Boot
- 4+ years of experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and containerization (Ex. Docker, Kubernetes)
- 4+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitAction, and Artifactory
- Background in AI/ML and Generative AI projects (e.g., model training, prompt engineering, integration)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such asAzure, GCP, or OpenShift
- Experience with observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk
- Hands-on experience crafting effective prompts for LLMs and using Python for integration and ML model development
- Exposure to AIOps, SRE principles, and Infrastructure as Code
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to leadership
- Experience with NoSQL databases, SQL optimization, and data modeling
- Must be able to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week in Iselin, NJ or Charlotte, NC
