About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Analyst to join the BSA/AML Data Product and Transformation team. Wells Fargo is embarking on a multiyear transformation journey aimed at building a centralized capability to store, manage and analyze Financial Crimes Compliance Operations (FCO) data to fulfill the Bank's BSA/AML regulatory, compliance and risk commitments. Wells Fargo is seeking a candidate with deep expertise in data transformation and data product management as well as experience with either BSA/AML, operations, and/or technology to solve key strategic problems associated with the transformation effort.
The BSA/AML Data Transformation team will deliver to our stakeholders curated data products, which are valuable, understandable, and trustworthy (among other attributes) to our stakeholders, the Operations and Risk analytics communities. These products will directly support their ability to leverage Wells Fargo data assets for insight generation.
Success in this role will enable faster delivery of the program's objectives, which include standing up data products to drive our regulatory, compliance, and risk commitments.

In this role, you will:
- Advise line of business and companywide functions on business strategies based on research of performance metrics, trends in population distributions, and other complex data analysis to maximize profits and asset growth, and minimize operating losses within risk and other operating standards
- Work with data partners to develop requirements to accurately identify populations that require remediation.
- Convert complex business requirements into actionable technical requirements.
- Assist with the development of code to satisfy the requirements.
- Lead initiatives across multiple lines of business to create consistency while gaining approval and support of senior leadership.
- Identify gaps or inconsistencies within requirements and work toward an effective solution.
- Provide influence and leadership in the identification of new tools and methods to analyze data
- Ensure adherence to compliance and legal regulations and policies on all projects managed
- Provide updates on project logs, monthly budget forecasts, monthly newsletters, and operations reviews
- Assist managers in building quarterly and annual plans and forecast future market research needs for business partners supported
- Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level-to-senior managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor to staff, interns and external contractors
- 5+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge and understanding of business requirements gathering and translation to technical requirements.
- Problem solving using data and business knowledge.
- Experience with BSA/AML customer and product data.
- Knowledge of the modern data stack and experience performing complex data analysis, research, and visualization using tools such as SQL, SAS, Power BI, Alteryx, etc.
- Familiar with large relational databases.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and with sound business judgment; ability to interpret analytical problems.
- Familiar with Hadoop, Google BigQuery, Spark, AI development tools, and/or similar tools.
