Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do - but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Cat Digital is the digital and technology arm of Caterpillar Inc., leveraging the latest technologies to build industry leading digital solutions for our customers and dealers. With over 1.5 million connected assets worldwide, our teams use data, technology, advanced analytics, telematics, and AI capabilities to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world.
Role Summary
If you enjoy challenging and complex work, have a strong desire to be a part of something new that will set the foundation for a best-in-class digital shopping experience at Caterpillar, and want to work with a team passionate about eCommerce, this is the opportunity for you.
Caterpillar is looking for an experienced eCommerce Product Manager to join our digital product management team in our journey to shape the future of how we best support our customers. In this role you will be responsible for critical eCommerce capabilities such as Pricing, Availability, Purchase and Order Fulfillment processes. This includes the Checkout Experience - Shopping Cart, Delivery and Order Payment. You will be an advocate and bring passion and empathy for helping some of the hardest working people on the planet - Cat customers and dealers.
You will work closely with business partners and the global dealer network to drive a frictionless shopping experience. This will be accomplished by first seeking to understand our customers' needs and workflow, including voice of customer and performance analytics, as well as our business objectives. You will then lead initiatives to translate those needs into compelling experiences to shape the agenda for the Product Team with the direct goal of increasing channel sales and customer adoption.
What You Will Do:
  • Manage the lifecycle of a product by leading multidisciplinary teams and providing vision on what is to be built, domain knowledge, and direction in alignment with Cat's goals
  • Take ownership for the success and quality of your product
  • Manage complex initiatives with high value to the organization, including prioritization, roadmap definition, and elaboration of epics and features
  • Represent the customer, interfacing and engaging directly with customers to develop deep understanding of their processes (triggers, steps, roles, outcomes)
  • Help frame and plan new opportunities - articulating the problem or opportunity to be addressed, the impact, and assumptions and risks to be considered/mitigated
  • Build tight collaboration and understanding of stakeholder needs and business goals - at times facilitating solutioning and brainstorming activities to transform broad ideas and concepts into clear goal alignment and desired customer requirements/experiences
  • Lead definition of major experience elements - covering the logic, structure, skeleton, and relationships of how an experience should come together

What You Will Have:
  • Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Superb communication, presentation, storytelling, interpersonal, and analytical skills

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • Digital product management, user experience, user research, digital strategy, or related function
  • Understanding of eCommerce best practices, digital consumer behavior, and industry trends
  • Experience managing projects using Product Management and/or Agile software tools such as Aha, Product Board, Azure DevOps
  • Strong understanding of data analysis, web analytics tools, and eCommerce platforms along with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Experience utilizing a variety of experience mapping techniques based on need (user story mapping, object mapping (OOUX), assumption mapping, etc.)
  • Human-centered design, lean innovation, or design thinking methodologies
  • Product Owner certification (Certified Scrum Product Owner from Scrum Alliance)
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and demonstrated experience employing SDLC in aspects of the project management process

What You Will Get:
Working with a Fortune 100 leader, you can build your career on a global scale and take advantage of development opportunities with emerging technologies. We've created an inclusive environment for you to explore your passions, make an impact and do the work that really matters. Join Us.
