At Apartment List, we’re on a mission to help every renter find a home they love at the value they deserve. As a two-sided marketplace, we serve both renters and property partners (apartment managers and marketers). Finding a home is one of the most important—and stressful—decisions people make. Getting it right matters. Our platform pairs ready-to-move renters with properties that truly fit their lifestyle, backed by smart technology and a pay-for-performance business model that aligns us with renter and partner success.

We’ve already helped more than one million families find a place they love, but we’re just getting started. Join us as we reimagine the rental journey with personalization, trust, and AI-powered guidance at the center.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Lead Product Manager to own our new user experience & growth efforts and drive the creation of delightful “first moments” that give people something worth talking about—and sharing. You’ll own the top of the funnel, experimenting rapidly across channels and surfaces to increase registrations, unlock referrals, and make our platform more viral, shareable, and sticky.

This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where you’ll test bold ideas, run fast experiments, and deliver product-led growth rooted in data, user empathy, and iterative learning. You’ll partner closely with engineering, design, marketing, and analytics to show renters the value of Apartment List—then back it up by helping them find their perfect match.

Here’s what you’ll do as part of the team:

  • Own the new user product experience from first touch to registration, building experiences that inspire action, curiosity, and confidence
  • Develop and rigorously test innovative product-led growth loops designed to dramatically increase new user acquisition and engagement. This includes meticulously crafting and optimizing strategies for sharing functionalities, referral programs, social media integration and engagement, and content-led virality. The goal is to build self-sustaining growth mechanisms that leverage the product itself to drive a continuous influx of new users.
  • Lead experiments on value propositions, messaging, and flows to drive signups and optimize conversion
  • Collaborate, guide, and strategize with the Marketing team on priorities to amplify social campaigns, word-of-mouth moments, and branded first impressions. Identify key marketing messages that resonate with target audiences and translate these insights into new product features or enhancements that capture market share.
  • Use data to prioritize opportunities, size impact, and track performance across growth surfaces
  • Build prototypes and run experiments with your triad partners (design + engineering + analytics) to validate and ship quickly
  • Use quantitative data to identify opportunities and qualitative data to validate and size opportunities
  • Deliver measurable outcomes against acquisition, activation, and referral KPIs

Here are the skills and experience you’ll need to be successful:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in product management, ideally with a focus on consumer growth, new user experiences, viral mechanics, and referral ecosystems
  • Self-starter, someone who doesn’t wait for someone to tell them what to do.
  • You’ve driven measurable impact through experimentation, testing, and iteration across top-of-funnel surfaces
  • You can write basic SQL queries pull your own data to guide decisions
  • You can create Figma mocks or prototypes to move ideas forward without waiting on others
  • You’re energized by ambiguity, motivated by outcomes, and biased toward action
  • You balance creative intuition with data-driven thinking, and know when to try scrappy vs. scale
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and collaborate fluidly with marketing, design, engineering, and analytics
  • You believe in the power of personalization & matching—not just searching—and want to help more renters find homes they love
  • Knowledge of SEO & AEO best practices is a big plus

Here’s what’s in it for you:

  • A high-ownership role with executive visibility and a meaningful impact on growth and brand reach
  • A smart, kind, and collaborative team that values fast learning, candid feedback, and real outcomes
  • The opportunity to shape how millions of renters discover and engage with Apartment List
  • A remote-first work environment with flexibility, inclusion, and career development at the core of how we work
