Job Description SummaryThe Lead Process Engineer will be responsible for programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to support the manufacturing efforts of GE Aerospace Asheville - CMCs. The CMM programming will primarily be done using PC-DMIS software and Hexagon CMMs, but will include other software including Quindos. The role will include writing, editing, troubleshooting, and validating and improving CMM programs to be used for measurement of Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) manufactured components. The Lead Process Engineer develops, enhances, and troubleshoots CMM programs for dimensional inspection of manufactured aerospace products. The Lead Process Engineer will work closely with Operations, Quality Engineering, and Lead Process Engineering to ensure that compliance and program needs are met. They will be responsible for communicating methods of inspection technologies and monitoring the processes in accordance with the production schedule. The Lead Process Engineer must be able to read and interpret drawings and prints using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principals.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop CMM programs using PCDMIS and Quindos software
  • Lead and manage the introduction of inspection processes for new products and design changes.
  • Read and understand prints/drawings and have an advanced knowledge of GD&T.
  • Develop planning, processes, and work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot & prove-out CMM/PC-DMIS programs, direct GR&R validations, and validate work using multiple techniques.
  • Develop CAD based CMM inspection programs using both models and prints.
  • Work autonomously as well as collaboratively in identifying needs and validation plans.
  • Providing proactive support to meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure programming milestones align with project plans.
  • Follow system standards to development, implementation, and change management of metrology processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing & Production Process and Equipment )
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing & Production Process and Equipment

  • Strong collaboration & presentation skills in order to broadcast program/process implementation.
  • Programming or scripting experience (C++, C Sharp, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with point cloud-based inspection using GOM Hardware and GOM Inspect software
  • Knowledge and experience with similar programming software like Quindos, Calypso, etc.
  • Previous high-volume manufacturing shop experience in Metrology / Inspection discipline
  • Self-starter – quick learner & able to identify alternative solutions for optimum results
