About us

Our mission is to reinvent the way people learn, starting with language.

Learning a language can change a life by opening doors to new cultures, careers, and communities. Two billion people around the world are actively trying to learn a language, but the best way to learn (one-on-one tutoring) is hard to access at scale and hasn’t been meaningfully improved in decades. Speak is building a human-level, AI-powered tutor in your pocket: a conversation-first experience that lets learners actually speak, get instant feedback, and progress through carefully designed lessons. The result is a complete path from beginner to confident speaker across multiple languages.

Speak first launched in South Korea in 2019, where Speak has now become the number one language learning app, and we now serve learners across many markets and 15+ languages. Speak is one of the world’s leading AI companies, with over $150m raised in venture investment from OpenAI, Accel, Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures, and more, with a distributed team across San Francisco, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, and Ljubljana.

Lead Learning Designer - S4B

Speak is seeking a Content Lead, B2B Learning Design to drive the future of S4B’s custom corporate learning experiences. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on instructional design expertise. You will own the full lifecycle of custom content—from initial client discovery through delivery—while managing contractors, improving workflows, and ensuring our courses meet the highest standards of quality and impact.

If you thrive at the intersection of content, technology, and operations, and can move seamlessly from critiquing a course outline to scaling a contractor workflow, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

Content Development & Quality

  • Lead the design and delivery of high-impact, custom B2B curricula tailored to enterprise client needs.

  • Translate client requirements into project plans, curriculum outlines, lesson briefs, and content deliverables.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all B2B content-related matters.

  • Establish and enforce a rigorous quality assurance framework, acting as the final gatekeeper for accuracy, pedagogy, and engagement.

  • Continuously refine content processes, templates, and standards based on feedback and best practices.

Contractor & Team Management

  • Manage and mentor a network of freelance content creators, editors, and QA specialists.

  • Provide constructive feedback and ensure freelancers deliver consistent, high-quality output.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Operations to align content with client goals and learner profiles.

  • Collaborate with leadership on content strategy and expansion opportunities.

Process & Operational Excellence

  • Streamline workflows, implement operational efficiencies, and scale the content function sustainably.

  • Develop a library of reusable curriculum components to accelerate future course development.

  • Analyze curriculum performance and incorporate client/learner feedback into improvements.

AI Enablement & Innovation

  • Leverage internal AI-powered course tools to maximize efficiency and creativity.

  • Partner closely with the product team by providing structured feedback on AI content generation tools (e.g., KEITH), ensuring technology continually reduces manual work.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or program/content leadership.

  • Strong portfolio of learning content for corporate/adult learners.

  • Proven project management skills; ability to manage multiple stakeholders, contractors, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional editing and QA skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Tech-savvy, adaptable, and comfortable working with AI tools and instructional design platforms.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Track record of improving workflows and driving measurable operational change.

  • Willingness to travel to San Francisco 1–2x per month (relocation preferred)

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in EdTech, corporate training, or B2B learning.

  • Experience managing remote teams or scaling content operations in a high-growth environment.

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

  • Proficiency in one or more languages beyond English.

  • Passion for language learning, pedagogy, and technology.
