What You Will Do
- Manage the DR operations team within the Operational Resilience function, ensuring alignment with enterprise recovery objectives.
- Establish and maintain the DR framework and testing model that standardizes how Lowe's validates recoverability across distributed technology teams.
- Define recovery plan patterns and templates for infrastructure, application, and service tiers to ensure consistency and auditability.
- Coordinate and execute recovery exercises - from single-service validations to integrated business process tests - to validate readiness and technical feasibility.
- Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards, and readiness reports that reflect true recovery capability and test coverage.
- Partner with IT Operations, Infrastructure, and Engineering to align recovery procedures with monitoring, backup, and failover capabilities.
- Integrate DR frameworks with enterprise tools (e.g., CMDB, ITSM, automation/orchestration) to enable scalable, data-driven validation.
- Serve as the operational recovery lead during test or real recovery events, ensuring adherence to playbooks and capturing deviations for improvement.
- Mentor associates and plan owners to mature DR skills, validation rigor, and execution discipline across teams.
Tactical & Operational Responsibilities
- Build and maintain recovery testing frameworks (checklists, playbooks, and evidence models) that enable repeatable, auditable testing.
- Validate recovery procedures through technical walk-throughs, dry runs, and full exercises.
- Identify automation opportunities to streamline plan maintenance and test execution.
- Drive the creation and accuracy of recovery inventories (Tier 0/1 systems, data replication mechanisms, and critical service dependencies).
- Track remediation items through closure and coordinate post-test and post-incident reviews.
- Lead post-recovery technical reviews and ensure lessons learned are embedded into future testing and design.
- Support integration between DR and other Operational Resilience components such as Business Continuity, Incident Management, and Risk Reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure Operations, or Systems Engineering.
- Proven record of executing recovery tests and troubleshooting system-level recovery issues.
- Demonstrated experience designing and operationalizing frameworks or automation patterns that scale recovery processes.
- Familiarity with hybrid/cloud recovery concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure, on-prem orchestration).
- Experience leading small, cross-functional technical teams during tests or live events.
Preferred Skills / Education
- Strong knowledge of backup, replication, and failover technologies across distributed and mainframe environments.
- Experience integrating DR with automation/orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with ITSM and CMDB systems for recovery evidence and dependency tracking.
- Certifications such as ITIL v4, CBCP, CISSP, or AWS/Azure Architect.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills for audit readiness.
- Recognized for being a builder and doer - capable of designing frameworks, leading tests, and driving measurable improvement.
