About Otto Aerospace
Otto Aerospace is developing the world’s first fifth-generation business jet, designed for sustainability through the innovative use of advanced super-laminar aerodynamics and high-precision, net-shaped composites. Flight tests of our technology demonstrator validate a dramatic reduction in fuel burn and allow a sizeable improvement in cabin comfort. Otto Aerospace is designing world-class aircraft from first principles physics and delivering ground-breaking aircraft and economic performance.
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and analytical Lead Industrial Engineer to support the modeling, simulation, and optimization of our aircraft production environment using Dassault Systèmes DELMIA within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our factory layout, resource allocation, and process flows are digitally validated and aligned to operational targets before physical implementation.
The ideal candidate has a background in Industrial Engineering, experience with discrete-event or 3D simulation tools, and is excited to help design a next-generation aerospace factory from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
- Produce and maintain capacity models and production ramp plans to define labor planning, capex requirements, workstation design, and throughput gaps
- Design effective facility layouts and production lines using CAD and simulation which meet process requirements, enable production targets, optimize resource allocation and material flow, and maximize production along with quality
- Work with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Facilities, and Design Engineering) to translate product and process data into simulation-ready workflows
- Identify and champion improvements to key causes of high variability or production bottlenecks, driving actions to resolution across disciplines and stakeholders
- Generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings and support capital decision-making
- Leverage data-driven approach to production design and process improvements to improve throughput
- Collaborate with the Digital Thread team to maintain traceability between MBOM, process plan, and plant simulation
- Continuously refine simulation models as designs, layouts, and schedules evolve
- Ensure all processes comply with industry regulations and safety standards
- Contribute to the development of the Industrial Engineering team by establishing and standardizing internal tools and processes, mentoring and training associate team members, while promoting a collaborative and productive work environment.
Who You Are
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or similar Engineering degree
Experience
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering, factory simulation, digital manufacturing, or similar
- Hands-on experience with 3DEXPERIENCE / DELMIA, particularly Process Engineer, Ergonomics, Plant Simulation
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret MBOMs, process plans, layout drawings, and ERP/MES data
- Working knowledge of lean principles, takt time planning, and value stream mapping
- Demonstrated ability to measurably improve production metrics, such as cost, yield, and throughput
- Understanding of the requirements of manufacturing systems, process, and organizations to enable scalable production
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to coordinate across functions
Preferred Experience:
- Experience supporting factory launch or greenfield site development
- Familiarity with discrete-event simulation, ergonomic analysis, and layout optimization tools
- Exposure to aircraft assembly, composite manufacturing, or highly complex production environments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work within iterative design-build cycles while facing fast-paced development timelines
Where You'll Be
**This role will initially be remote with 25% travel to our temporary facility at Meacham Airport in Fort Worth, TX. Once our new headquarters in Jacksonville, FL is ready for occupancy, the role will transition to onsite at that location (6-18 months)
Benefits
Otto Aerospace provides a robust benefits package that includes competitive salaries, subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) opportunities, paid short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability and additional term life, with 15 paid days off, 15 paid holidays, and paid sick leave. Depending on seniority and role, some roles qualify for potential bonuses and stock options.
