- Responsible to ensure all statutory regulatory filings are completed timely, efficiently and in compliance with the country regulatory requirements. This includes branches and legal entities in Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria.
Statutory obligation comprises of following:
- Lead statutory audit with external auditors,
- Extract US GAAP trial balance,
- Convert US GAAP trial balance into local accounting GAAP trial balance by passing necessary adjustments,
- Prepare initial draft of full set of financial statements and share it with auditors,
- Provide all requested documents to auditor to conclude audit,
- Provide final draft of full set of financial statements for auditors sign off,
- Prepare management report to include in financial statement and get it signed off from company representative.
- Prepare minutes of meeting for board approval.
- Coordinate with legal representative to get the audited financial statement and minutes of meeting filed with local authority.
- Prepare annual corporate income tax return and submit with authority.
Additional Scope
- Responsible to ensure statutory books are properly maintained where we are using local accounting GAAP (other than US GAAP).
- Responsible for coordinating with all concerned business lines for proper statutory book keeping (where we are using local accounting GAAP as a primary records).
- Responsible for preparing complete reconciliation of US GAAP vs Statutory books gap reconciliation.
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a discipline and analytical thinking to execute statutory audits and financial statement filing process based on local requirements.
- Support direct tax teams for filing income tax returns on regularity deadlines.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
- Jobs at this level function with some autonomy but are subject to functional practices and precedents or are covered by well-defined policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
- Uses some judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial statement audits and local accounting compliance in Tunisia/Morocco/ Algeria.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IFRS and US GAAP accounting
- Fluency in English and French.
- Experience with Big 10 audit firms is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs; established project management skills.
- Ability to lead statutory financial statement audits and work independently with external auditors.
