Description
DUTIES: Lead a group focus on developing performance metrics, conceptualizing new analysis methods, and implementing these techniques to produce improved on-track performance. Support new GM motorsports ventures, including exploratory studies to support a potential Formula 1 program. Set group priorities, establish group culture, manage team workload, and communicate with key stakeholders both internal and external to GM motorsports. Collaborate with GM supported teams and GM personnel to define group priorities, coordinate team efforts, and effectively integrate work product into performance gains on-track. Guide the group's technical direction drawing from motorsports experience, vehicle dynamics knowledge, and insight from latest advances within the industry. Actively engage in team's technical projects. Work closely with GM software group to implement prototype methods into production tools. Develop a relaxed, collaborative, and highly productive team environment. Supervises four F1 Performance Engineers. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Physics, or related field of study and Eight years of experience as a Performance Engineer, Vehicle Simulation Engineer, or related role. Eight years of experience with: Motorsports series experience in optimizing vehicle setups and car configurations for specific race events including NASCAR, IMSA, F1, IndyCar, and WEC; Simulation workflows in a professional motorsports organization including both offline simulation and the DIL simulator; Simulation tools to optimize vehicle performance; Programming in Python and MATLAB; and Analyzing on-track performance through both application vehicle dynamics principles and statistical methods.
