The Role:

 

The embedded software team is responsible to design and implement software that runs on the target MCU inside Dyson product under Scrum Agile Practice. The team delivers software that interprets what are the input signal coming from the sensors, process the input signal, translate it to a proper system behaviour and produce the desired output to actuators depending on the Dyson product behaviour/features.


Will involve from early project introduction toward project launch delivery. Working closely with Cross Function Team deliver Integrated Embedded System Solutions for Dyson Products with on Spec, Quality, Time and Cost.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review product and electronic system requirement documents, performing high- and low-level design analysis with the Project Embedded Software Architect.

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) or Technical Lead for key software modules, components, or platforms.

  • Lead technical and set strategic directions for Continuous Integration and deployment (CI, CD), feasibility studies or proof-of-concept activities.

  • Review and generate embedded software requirement specifications, architecture documents, design documents, and optimize test strategies.

  • Drive activity on software module/component design—including code review, implementation, and verification (unit/module testing) for Dyson products software together with its proprietary tools and applications for testing, service and manufacturing.

  • Champion cross-team collaboration to optimize product performance and system stability.

  • Proactively identify technical risks within projects and influence teams to drive solutions.

  • Lead technical root cause analysis and resolve complex software issues, coordinating group efforts as needed.

  • Deliver robust, high-quality software, eliminating blockers and ensuring smooth release cycles.

  • Stay current with best practices and emerging technologies in embedded software engineering.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, actively refining software development processes and initiatives.

 

Key Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).

  • 6+ years of experience in embedded systems software development, including requirements analysis, design, coding, and testing.

  • Proficient with C/C++, UML, and Python.

  • Extensive background in real-time embedded software engineering (e.g., FreeRTOS).

  • Experience with Linux-based environment for firmware build and testing.

  • Strong understanding of MCU/MPU architectures and common peripherals.

  • Proficient in configuring and integrating sensor devices over interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and UART with DMA.

  • Experience with on- and off-target test harnesses (e.g., Ceedling, Behave).

  • Solid grasp of Agile software development life cycles, Code Branching Strategy (Git) and basic electronics hardware software integration.

  • Skilled with embedded development tools (emulators, debuggers, analyzers, oscilloscopes), as well as configuration management principles.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership, capable of effective communication and collaboration within Agile Scrum teams and project stakeholders.

  • Candidates with the following knowledge/experience are advantages.

    • MCU Resource Usage Profiling Tools and analysis.

    • Software security by design or Security Scan Tools.

    • Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, bitbucket)

    • Bluetooth Low Energy protocols, including BLE 5.0. TWS.

    • Exposure to one or more of the following: WiFi (802.11), NFC, ZigBee, 802.15.4, 3GPP, MQTT, Apple homekit, Matter Protocol.

  • Strong analytical skills, logical reasoning, and advanced debugging abilities.

  • Independent, reliable, and results oriented.
