Founded in 2014, our growing team is based in Austin, TX, and has clients in all 50 US states. We’ve grown over 300% in the last three years - with big plans for the future.
We are looking for an experienced DevOps leader to help build out a world-class Azure infrastructure, relentlessly pursue opportunities to automate and improve processes, and help the entire engineering team be successful.
The Challenge You'll OwnWe're at a pivotal point in our growth, and we need your expertise to help us take the next step. Your first major project will be to lead the migration of our infrastructure from a manual, point-and-click deployment model to a modern, automated Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environment within Azure. You won't just be executing a plan or replacing what's broken; you'll lead the initiative to build a scalable, maintainable, and resilient foundation that will accelerate our development cycles and empower our engineering teams. We're looking for someone who sees this as a unique opportunity to shape our entire DevOps philosophy and leave a lasting impact on how we build, deploy, and scale.
RequirementsExtensive experience creating and managing Azure PaaS product offerings, including:
App Services/App Service Environments
Function Apps
App Configurations
Azure Service Bus
SQL Server
Additional services and tools you will work with:
Cloudflare
Azure DevOps pipelines
git
Ability to create reliable and easy-to-maintain Azure DevOps pipelines.
Deep understanding of Azure networking and security (Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, etc.)
Proven experience leading the migration of an organization from point-and-click deployments to Infrastructure as Code.
Ability to operate in both point-and-click deployment and IaC tools (Terraform), particularly as we transition to the latter.
A strong preference for self-directed learning and research, with the ability to work autonomously.
Clear communication skills and strategic thinking.
A PaaS-first design philosophy that emphasizes simplicity, security, ease of maintenance, and clarity.
Experience managing small DevOps teams.
Experience breaking down complex projects into small, logical parts, and executing them start to finish.
Ability to write clear and detailed change tickets, considering Customer Impact, Risk, and Test Plan.
Maintain and develop our mature Azure environment.
Define and lead the strategy for CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
Serve as a technical resource and mentor for the entire engineering team, championing best security and DevOps practices.
Collaborate with the Engineering and QA teams to troubleshoot Azure issues.
Monitor platform security and keep the company in regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, PCI).
Perform upgrades, enhancements, and migrations with zero/minimal downtime.
Your passion is in traditional systems administration, managing VMs, Kubernetes clusters, or Linux servers, and you dislike PaaS environments.
You prefer a highly structured, siloed environment where your responsibilities are narrowly defined.
You're not comfortable with our philosophy of prioritizing simple, maintainable solutions over the most technically complex or cutting-edge ones.
