About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join the Conduct Analytics and Reporting (CAR) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with Conduct Management leaders to address compliance challenges by developing AI/ML solutions using custom, open-source, and proprietary models.
In this role, you will:
  • Envision, design, develop, and implement custom AI/ML models
  • Lead or participate in complex initiatives and deliverables by utilizing advanced algorithms and statistical techniques
  • Execute analytical experiments and create innovative statistical techniques to discover solutions for abstract business problems across Conduct Management domain
  • Interpret and analyze data using advanced analytics methods to recommend ways to solve problems and influence business decisions
  • Provide expertise to leadership on implementing innovative AI/ML-driven business solutions that are strategically focused
  • Serve as an expert advisor to Conduct Management executives on complex, visible, and diverse solutions
  • Enforce and establish best practices related to data quality and governance
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Analytics, Data Science, Statistics or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience with AI/ML concepts, including large language models (LLMs), deep learning, or natural language processing (NLP).
  • 2+ years of experience with SDLC and Agile tools such as JIRA, GitHub, Confluence etc.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python / R, and other programming languages.
  • Experience with large production data sets and in statistical testing.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using data and insights to inform business decisions.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional teams.
  • Experience extracting data-driven insights from technical systems and business processes.
Job Expectations:
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is posted in Charlotte, NC (uptown) and West Des Moines, IA
