About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Credit Risk Officer to join the Risk Rating Methodology (RRM) team in the Wholesale Credit Risk group in Corporate Risk.
The RRM team manages the development and refinement of risk rating methodologies and grids for commercial credit exposures across Wells Fargo. RRM provides oversight of commercial business risk rating methodologies which includes analyzing risk rating data to provide recommendations on existing or new methodologies, approving business risk rating policies and processes, facilitating risk rating tool and application training, overseeing model controls and usage, and resolving risk rating issues and research activities.
In this role, you will:
  • Lead risk rating methodology development and refinement processes, providing challenge and documenting the rationale for recommendations including application of the tools (grids and guidance) to Wells Fargo model policies and standards.
  • Manipulate and analyze data, preparing summary presentations of findings, and drawing conclusions to present recommendations to senior management.
  • Construct business requirements for technology implementation of new or refined risk rating grids/guidance; testing technology changes; coordinating communication and rollout with impacted business users; and developing training materials.
  • Evaluate risk rating grid/guidance usage and performance through data analysis, identifying issues that need to be addressed from data trends and taking ownership to address them.
  • Provide thought leadership related to the enterprise risk rating policy and overall risk rating system.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in specific commercial businesses' risk rating policies, methodologies, tools and procedures and be confident in providing challenge where appropriate. Ensuring consistency for assigned businesses relative to enterprise risk rating policies and practices.
  • Lead significant risk rating initiatives and processes by partnering with multiple businesses and other downstream stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-organizational project work which may include facilitation with several different business units across the bank to plan and execute on project deliverables.
  • Identify, document and track activities related to risk rating tool and application issues/changes/enhancements and/or policy and methodology related items and managing to resolution.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Facilitate, where appropriate, resolution of risk rating related recommendations and/or issues from credit review function, Internal Audit, and external regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and manage at least one specific governance process or program as assigned, within the team.
  • Analyze, recommend, and document business risk rating policy and procedure changes.
  • Develop and present risk rating related topics to senior management and regulators.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Credit Risk or Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Commercial & Industrial (C&I) or Commercial Real Estate (CRE) experience
  • Credit risk, commercial underwriting, commercial loan review, portfolio management or equivalent experience in financial services
  • Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with senior executive-level leaders
  • Ability to facilitate and lead meetings to reach conclusions, identify tasks, record actions, and achieve results
  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues or work independently as needed
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
  • Ability to manipulate data from various sources and develop graphical presentations of quantitative information (e.g. Excel pivot tables, vlookup, and conditional formatting functions)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial industry-associated regulatory standards and agencies
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement changes and solutions proactively
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and pivot in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Experience managing and providing oversight of commercial credit policy - Enterprise and/or business

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$111,100.00 - $217,200.00
