About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Officer to play a critical role within the Technology Risk Management function, supporting the Foundational Hosting Platform teams in Chief Technology Office. Focused on integrated hosting and database management solutions implementation for the bank, the individual will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust control framework to mitigate technology risks across the organization.
This includes identifying, assessing, and monitoring technology risks, developing and implementing effective controls, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices. The Lead Control Officer will collaborate with various stakeholders across technology, business, and compliance functions to foster a strong risk culture and ensure the organization's technology assets are adequately protected.
In this role, you will:
  • Lead risk mitigation initiatives: Lead complex initiatives designed to mitigate high inherent risks with broad impact primarily around Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for Operational Risks.
  • Analyze KRI and control data: Act as key resource in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the month-on-month results for the KRIs and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Controls along with root cause analysis for any breaches.
  • Support risk strategy development: Monitor moderately complex business-specific programs and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk-mitigation strategies via developing and maintaining these measures.
  • Evaluate control effectiveness: Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area.
  • Implement risk processes: Develop and implement risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls evaluations.
  • Collaborate on risk identification: Collaborate with relevant business group to identify risks associated with business activities and operations and provide guidance in developing and implementing risk-mitigating strategies.
  • Perform detailed data analysis: Highly analytical in nature with eye for detail for any kind of data analysis.
  • Drive process improvement: Identify and recommend Business Controls opportunities for process improvement and risk control development by managing and directing teams on strategy and execution of activities.
  • Deliver on risk objectives: Determine appropriate strategies and actions of Business Controls functional area to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables by ensuring that all business risk issues are proactively identified and addressed appropriately.
  • Develop policies and procedures: Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions with moderate complexity within defined scope of responsibility.
  • Influence stakeholders: Collaborate with and influence key stakeholders including managers.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:
  • Middleware and vendor software experience: Technology or Operations background supporting Middleware products and third-party vendor software products in prior roles is desired.
  • Operational risk expertise: Knowledge and understanding of operational risk management in the financial services industry.
  • Leadership and project management: Proven leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with group's processes.
  • Regulatory change assessment: Ability to evaluate changes to laws, processes, etc. to assess impacts and to develop implementation plan to close gaps.
  • Process management knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of operational risk management and/or operations process management.
  • Regulatory compliance understanding: Understanding of United States (US) banking regulatory requirements. Applies product/domain knowledge to improve/add value to the processes, Line of Defense (LOD) structure.
  • Quality assurance and audit experience: Familiar with various quality assurance techniques, issue verification frameworks and role of issue oversight, Audit, or internal controls assessment experience.
  • Financial services knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of financial services: regulations, compliance, policies, process, and procedures.
  • Relationship building skills: Ability to consult, build, and maintain solid working relationships in and outside of immediate department.
  • Matrixed environment experience: Experience working in a matrixed environment and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships.
  • Ethical risk awareness: Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to identify risks and confidently raise issues, escalate early and engage in constructive challenge, doing so independently.
  • Process improvement management: Ability to manage initiatives involving process improvements.
  • Influence and negotiation skills: Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals.
  • Presentation preparation: Ability to prepare management level presentations.
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$100,000.00 - $179,000.00
