Job SummaryThe Lead Business and Technical Consultant acts as a business expert in Real Estate, overseeing specific processes, data, and systems. This role leads cross-functional projects, manages business applications, resolves issues, and may direct junior team members. Responsibilities include designing and implementing solutions for project controls, budgeting, reporting, vendor management, data integration, and invoicing. The consultant applies tools, methodologies, and governance independently to align with Real Estate and stakeholder objectives.
ResponsibilitiesSupports the creation of long-term and five-year business plans and budgets consistent with company strategy. Collaborates with regional leads to build monthly project cashflows to inform annual budget targets.
Documents baseline plans to guide prioritization and ensure real estate investments meet stakeholder needs while maintaining forecast accuracy and strategic alignment.
Develops and maintains reports, correspondence, documentation, and organized records.
Leads the development and implementation of business specific applications, working closely with experts from different departments to establish and confirm business and IT project needs.
Serves as a key contact for technical knowledge and business process support, assisting with issue identification, analysis, resolution, and the evaluation of new opportunities.
Manages and coordinates the implementation of complex business projects across various departments.
Addresses system and business process problems by conducting analysis and establishing preventive measures.
Designs and integrates solutions for customer and business requirements, incorporates them into existing workflows, and manages change and communication across teams.
Leads data analysis and root cause investigations involving multiple teams or systems.
Monitors the Real Estate Portfolio Project Schedule, ensuring timelines are tracked. Provides Power BI reports for stakeholder insights. Coordinates project governance, assessing project health, and recommending risk mitigation strategies.
Oversees supplier prequalification and compliance through Avetta controls, manages the Approved Vendor database and related information.
Lead efforts to centralize real estate data—integrating asset, location, and historical information into a unified hub for streamlined process, better capital planning, and reshaping the portfolio through improved data accessibility and decision-making.
Basic/Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Information Technology, Mathematics, Communications, Statistics, or Other Related Degree
- Minimum 9 years related work experience
- In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 9 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 15 year(s) related work experience
15 Years of related work experience
Masters’ degree in related field
Previous Duke Energy experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Budget or financial analysis experience
Professional Certifications or Licenses
Six Sigma
Project Management Professional
Business Process Management
Change Management Certification
Experience in the utility industry.
