We offer a broad range of products through a diversified, multi-channel distribution network, including one of the world’s most far-reaching property casualty networks.  The Data Office supports the overall General Insurance product by managing Data, Data Governance, and the presentation of the data (Business Intelligence Delivery).


How you will create an impact:


AIG is looking for a driven individual to assume a critical role within the Data Office. This role will work directly with the Actuarial and Data teams to ensure a clear understanding of data and analytics needs and priorities. In addition, the individual will hold Global Data Warehouse Product Ownership responsibilities, ensuring execution aligns with the highest business priorities and Data Office strategy, and that sunset opportunities are realized.


 About the Role

The Business Analyst – Actuarial, Commercial Lines role sits within the Global Data Office at the intersection of business strategy, data, and analytics, and works closely with Commercial Lines Actuarial Groups. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of actuarial concepts (reserving, pricing, and risk assessment), proven data and analytics capabilities, excellent communication skills, and experience as an Agile Product Owner. In this role, you will translate complex actuarial business requirements into actionable data engineering specifications by collaborating directly with data development teams. As a trusted business partner and product owner within the Global Data Warehouse, this role will help shape how AIG uses data to make better decisions, simplify its analytics landscape, and focus investments where they matter most.

 

Responsibilities


Business Requirements: Lead deep, structured requirement sessions with senior actuaries to understand workflows, data nuances, and reporting needs, creating detailed functional specifications.


  • Stakeholder Management: Facilitate alignment across actuaries and Data Office teams on project priorities, project timelines, and management of the deliverables.
  • Product Owner for Data Platform & Tool Development: Develop roadmaps for actuarial data and tool development requirements and partner with data engineers to build and deploy them in timely manner.
  • Agile Development Leadership & Product Backlog Management
    • Lead Agile Ceremonies: Act as the Business Analyst Lead within an agile team, facilitating user story refinement, sprint planning, and daily scrums.
    • Backlog Grooming: Translate actuarial requirements (reserving, pricing, modeling) into actionable user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria for developers.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Ensure compliance with data standards and maintain rigorous documentation for data lineage, testing, and production changes.

What you'll need to succeed


  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in business analysis, actuarial tool design within the insurance/financial industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Actuarial Knowledge: Strong understanding of Commercial Insurance actuarial concepts (e.g., reserving methods, pricing tools)
  • Data Proficiency: Experience with data environments, ETL and visualization tools
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading Agile teams and managing product backlogs.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Actuarial Credentials, actuarial exams, or deep understanding of actuarial reserving/pricing concepts.

For positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $120,000 - $150,000. For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $130,000 - $160,000.
