The Lead Brand Designer is a senior creative leader responsible for elevating and evolving the Workiva brand across every touchpoint, driving world-class brand design, and shaping the future of our visual identity. This role blends high-craft design excellence with strategic leadership, partnering closely with the Senior Director of Creative & Brand and other cross-functional teams like Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Web Operations, Global Events, and Go-to-Market  (GTM) teams to ensure Workiva shows up as a confident, modern, and category-leading SaaS brand.

In this role, you will set the creative bar, define scalable brand systems, guide agency partners, and mentor designers while still delivering exceptional individual contributor work. As a cornerstone of Workiva’s continued brand transformation, the Lead Brand Designer helps unify the global message, design, and brand experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and evolve the Workiva Brand by serving as a primary steward. Elevating our visual identity, advancing the design system, and ensuring consistency across global programs

  • Translate brand strategies and positioning into compelling creative direction and visual storytelling

  • Shape and contribute to brand strategy, brand architecture, identity evolution, and design system expansion

  • Concept, design, and deliver high-impact creative work for integrated brand campaigns, global events, digital ads, product marketing initiatives, and high-visibility executive moments

  • Lead the development of scalable brand systems, templates, and toolkits used globally across marketing and cross-functional teams

  • Stays at the forefront of industry and creative trends across brand design, motion, experiential, AI-powered content, and digital storytelling. Identifying opportunities to modernize and scale the brand through new formats, technologies, and creative approaches

  • Uphold exceptional craft across typography, color, layout and composition internally and externally; guiding agency partners to ensure creative outputs meet Workiva’s quality and strategic bar

  • Translate briefs into strategic design solutions rooted in insights and business goals

  • Work with Creative Operations, production partners, and external agencies to ensure fidelity from concept through delivery

  • Provide creative direction, mentorship, and thoughtful critique while facilitating cross-team design reviews that elevate collective creative thinking, standards, and execution across internal and cross-functional partners

  • Champion best practices in design, storytelling, accessibility, and global scalability

  • Manage end-to-end production for high-visibility deliverables (ie: executive decks, global events, campaigns, illustration/visual system work)

  • Analyze performance data in partnership with Marketing to refine creative for impact and continuous improvements

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Brand Design, or a related field

  • 8+ years of professional experience in brand design, visual design, or related creative marketing fields

  • Experience in business-to-business (B2B) marketing, with a preference for Software as a Service (SaaS) 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience shaping or contributing to a brand refresh, brand system, or large-scale identity evolution

  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-impact creative work at an enterprise B2B or SaaS environment

  • Experience leveraging emerging technologies such as generative AI, 3D, and motion design to transform creative workflows and amplify brand impact at scale

  • Strong portfolio showcasing: identity systems, campaign work, digital and social design, event/experiential design, storytelling and concept development, and sophisticated visual craft

  • Experience mentoring designers or leading creative reviews strongly preferred

  • High proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite 

  • Communicates conceptual thinking, strategy, and design rationale clearly to diverse audiences

  • Leads multiple complex initiatives with a strong balance of creativity, precision, and strategic alignment

  • Thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and adapts quickly to shifting priorities

  • Delivers compelling presentations and narratives that engage and influence stakeholders

  • Fosters strong, collaborative relationships across disciplines and teams

Travel Requirements & Working Conditions

  • 10% travel for customer and internal meetings

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office

How You’ll Be Rewarded

✅ Salary range in the US: $133,000.00 - $214,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
