About the Team
At Atlassian, the Teamwork Lab is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of modern teamwork. We lead industry-defining research on the future of work, AI, distributed collaboration, and the technologies shaping tomorrow's teams. Our insights inform Atlassian's ways of working, product direction, and global thought leadership.
Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
About the role
Are you fascinated by how work is changing-and eager to help shape what comes next? Atlassian is seeking a Senior Behavioral Scientist to join our Teamwork Lab. In this high-impact, individual contributor role, you'll bridge academic rigor with real-world impact, developing innovative practices and playbooks that help our customers unlock the full value of Atlassian products.
You'll work at the crossroads of technology, workforce trends, and organizational change-partnering with leaders and cross-functional teams to dig into the root causes of workplace challenges, spot emerging opportunities, and guide us toward innovative, human-centered solutions.
What you'll do
  • Design, test, and refine new work practices and guidance that help Atlassian customers maximize value from our products and build a unified point of view about how the best modern teams work.
  • Design and conduct original research-including experiments with teams to test and validate new ways of working.
  • Synthesize internal and external research, including original studies and Teamwork Lab findings, into actionable insights, frameworks, and practices for individuals, teams, and leaders.
  • Partner with Sales, Product Marketing, and Product Management to deeply understand customer challenges and identify opportunities for companies to improve ways of working.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on teamwork, AI, and modern ways of working, providing guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to align research-driven practices with business objectives and organizational rhythms.
  • Translate complex organizational concepts into clear, practical recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences, including C-suite and senior executives.

What we're looking for:
  • Advanced degree (PhD or Master's preferred) in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or organizational transformation, with a strong track record of translating research into business strategies.
  • Proven track record of translating behavioral research into practical solutions for large, complex organizations. Experience developing and implementing new ways of working, with a focus on teamwork, leadership, and the future of work.
  • Exceptional storytelling, presentation, and communication skills-able to distill complex research into clear, compelling insights for executive stakeholders, diverse audiences, and cross-functional teams.
  • Deep curiosity, adaptability, and a growth mindset. Comfortable navigating ambiguity, driving change, and collaborating effectively across distributed and remote teams.
